My name is Cici Cox. I am a second year photo staffer on the Muse. I have worked diligently with my peers and fellow photo staffers this year to enhance my work. As well as establish team-building skills in order to form long- lasting bonds on this publication. I am excited for opportunities on the Muse and the more memories to be made.
I wanted to include this photo as it was the first photo that I felt initially proud of. It portrays deep emotion and conveys the message really well. I took these photos in November of 2024.
I wanted to add this photo, because it was my first time photographing action in sports, and first time essentially using a sports lens. I thought this photo was simple but visually appealing due to the intense nature of the subject. I took these photos in November of 2024.
I wanted to include this photo to shout out all of the team work that went in to taking this photo. My team and I worked hard to come up with the best possible angle to shoot from . It is important to me because of not only how it turned out, but all of the creativity flowing and emotions displayed in this one photo. I took this photo in November of 2024.
This photo I wanted to add because it was my first photography assignment on the Muse. Although it may not be the best photo I have ever taken, it acts as starting point so that I can visually see my progress throughout my time on the Muse. I took this photo in September 2024.
Throughout my childhood, there was always one consistency: my dad's GoPro. It captured every moment, whether it be my twin sister and I swimming in the pool in our backyard or embracing the cold as we skiied down slopes in the winter. As a child, I did not realize why my dad cared about making these moments permanent — I did not realize why it mattered to have them as a keepsake.
However, as I've gotten older, I can't help but smile as I relive the memories and immerse myself in the past while watching these videos. I laugh at the funny moments between me and my sister, grin at my fashionable outfit choices, but most of all, I feel a wave of nostalgia and gratefulness towards the fact that I have the privilege of being able to go back to these moments. I had never wished to become a photographer or videographer, but I thought about how those two careers had already had a critical impact on my life.
Entering Dreyfoos School of the Arts as a communications major, I kept that realization in mind — I decided to try something new. I signed up to be a photographer for The Muse so that I could reciprocate that same feeling of joy that I received when looking back on old footage that my dad has taken of me. Being able to see the happiness on a person's face after I capture a moment they themselves were proud of is something that makes me feel proud and why I love my role as a photographer.
