The city of Ležajsk, devastated by numerous invasions over the Middle Ages, welcomed the Bernardine monks in 1608. They build a monastery and the abbey church with one of the most precious organ in Poland.
"Answer quickly, O Virgin. Reply in haste to the angel, or rather through the angel to the Lord. Answer with a word, receive the Word of God. Speak your own word, conceive the divine Word. Breathe a passing word, embrace the eternal Word.”
- St Bernard of Clairvaux
We stopped in Ležajsk on our way to the first mass of our friend in his native Zamosc. It was a beautiful and very hot day, the old and nicely cold basilica was a refreshment, as well as the beautiful parks and gardens around.
