The Basilica of the Holy Trinity (Basilika Sonntagberg) is a monumental Baroque pilgrimage church in Sonntagberg, Lower Austria, built in the 17th century on a dominant hilltop overlooking the countryside. It's a major religious and cultural site known for its impressive Baroque architecture, detailed interior with frescoes, and stunning panoramic views, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike.
"The strongest proof that we are made in the image of the Trinity is this: Love alone makes us happy because we live in a relationship, and we live to love and to be loved.”
- Pope Benedict XVI
Both visits on Sonntagberg could not be more different, yet, both were similarly pleasant and left some beautiful memories. First one, January, freezing cold and my car climbing up on icy roads. And then the beautiful panoramic view of Austria down to the Danube and up to the Alps. Second one, July, horrible heat and our family melting down and searching for some shade in the church. But then again, the beautiful greenery and hills surrounding us all around! Such a magnificent place.
