A sanctuary in the hillside in the place of a miracle where a child attacked by wolves was saved by the Virgin Mary. It is one of the most famous Marian sanctuaries in Lombardy and a place close to the heart of St John XXIII who raised it to a minor basilica.

It was an early evening and the sun was setting high above the valley. The view was fantastic. I was climbing the stairs up and down. I understand why this is a pilgrimage place, it is exactly the place where you want to stop and rest after a long way on the route.
