ARCHBASILICA OF THE MOST HOLY SAVIOUR,
ST JOHN THE BAPTIST
AND ST JOHN THE EVANGELIST
ST JOHN THE BAPTIST
AND ST JOHN THE EVANGELIST
The mother of all churches and the basilica of the bishop of Rome.
"Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, 'It is the Lord!' ”
- John 21,7
My usual first stop among the Roman basilicas and the first major basilica I visited in my life. It is probably because it is the closest one to the Czech national college of Nepomucenum where we stayed. I remember the space and light, the beams of sunshine that protruded through the windows and enlightened the apse. And the peaceful atmosphere in the cloister.
