A neo-gothic parish church in the city center of Prague and the first church in the Czech Republic elevated to a minor basilica by Pope Francis in commemoration of 1000 years since the death of St Ludmila in 2022.
“St. Ludmila is truly an example of a prudent grandmother, as she taught her grandson Wenceslas to keep the commandments of the Lord.”
- Pope Francis
I arrived on Tuesday morning, it was supposed to be open since 11 AM and they were a bit late. Yet, there were many people trying to open the door already before that. I was surprised, my assumption was there are not too many church visitors in Prague. And the people who entered after the basilica opened, sat down and prayed. There was someone playing the organ.
