BASILICA OF SAINT PETER AND PAUL

PRAGUE (VYŠEHRAD)

CZECH REPUBLIC

Although this is one of the oldest places of worship in the country, the church itself has gone through many rebuildings and so the current basilica is only dated back to 1880s with renovations in the 20th century. The majestic monument above the city of Prague is deeply rooted in the history of the Czech nation.

“Like living stones, you are being built into a spiritual house.”

- 1 Peter 2,5

Many times that I stopped here on my visits to Prague, first aged ten or so. The most precious memories are connected with a visit when my friend Barbara was awarded British Prime Minister's Points of Light award in the local school building. And then again, with my wife, when staying in a hotel nearby, we prayed for our kids and admired the graves of the most important Czechs on the local cemetery.
