BASILICA OF ST ANDREW
(ZEVENKERKEN ABBEY)
SINT-ANDRIES
BELGIUM
The Benedictine abbey of St Andrew was destroyed during the French Revolution and re-founded in 1899.
"Hail, O Cross, inaugurated by the Body of Christ and adorned with his limbs as though they were precious pearls. Before the Lord mounted you, you inspired an earthly fear. Now, instead, endowed with heavenly love, you are accepted as a gift.”
- The Passion of St Andrew
Zevenkirchen, this is how I remember it, or "Seven Churches" like seven chapels on the huge property, each for seven big basilicas in Rome. We arrived too late and they were all already closed but the monastery complex was an incredibly peaceful place in the evening.
