No - you make a single payment to use the My Media for Alexa app for a year. After a year if you want to carry on using the service you would need to buy another year. We never autorenew subscriptions and cannot make further payments from your PayPal or Amazon account. Note that we charge a subscription because the My Media for Alexa architecture requires use of our Cloud Services to mediate between your music library and Alexa and therefore there is an ongoing charge for the service. Please support us by purchasing a license

You have a right, under GDPR, to request a copy of the data we hold about you. Similarly, you can request your data to be deleted from our servers at any time (although this will also terminate your services with us as we only collect data that is required to run the My Media service). MyMedia is a free Android app developed by LK SKY Apps that provides a powerful and easy-to-use file manager. This app enables you to download, manage, organize, and play music and video files offline. You can import files from cloud providers such as Google Drive and Dropbox. The app includes a full-featured web browser with unlimited tabs, bookmarks, and history. It also comes with a download manager that supports parallel downloading and incognito mode. The audio player supports various formats such as MP3, MIDI, APE, FLAC, AAC, WAV, and includes a powerful equalizer. The tag editor allows you to easily edit the tags of your audio files, and the video player supports many formats such as MP4, M4A, FMP4, WebM, MKV, and MP3. The app also includes a file manager with a passcode lock, extract ZIP files, open files from other apps, and share your music and video files with your friends.

hello, I want to store and play my music on echo. I know amazon music has stopped supporting music importation and I do not have any music services. So any suggestions on apps that can store and play music on echo? Thanks

Ripping is a tedious task, and you do not want to do it more than once. So I would strongly recommend that you rip to a lossless audio format (that can perfectly reconstruct the file as it appears on the CD, with no loss of quality). I choose to use FLAC to do this. If you need to use a lossy compression format (MP3, AAC etc) to fit all your music onto a portable device, then transcoded to a parallel directory and keep the original FLAC files.

Once you have ripped your music, you can transfer it to your MyCloud. I prefer to rip to local disk, and add it to my MyCloud later, as I only have a 100Mpbs Ethernet, and ripping directly to NAS slows the rip down significantly.

Once the music is on the WD My Cloud you can then use the WD My Cloud app for iOS (or Android) to navigate to the folder containing the music on the WD My Cloud, then select either the individual music file to play or select the Music icon (if it is available) which should list all the songs in that directory, from there you can select the music file. If for what ever reason the music file does not play then chances are its in a format the device (or app) cannot play.

I have a QNAP server and can get Alexa to play the music on it. Bluetooth pair your phone with Alexa, open vlc media player and select local network. Select your server and drill down to the music folder. Select the songs to be played, then tap the first one to start playing and you can then close VLC media player and the music continues to play from the server. Open VLC media player to stop playback or give Alexa another command.

Once installed, you will be asked to enter your Amazon credentials to link My Media with Amazon. Once you have done this, simply select the folders on your computer that contain your music collection, or alternatively select your whole iTunes library.

To be fair I have used Plex media server for a while so my natural instinct was to get that up and running with alexa. It works well I have libraries for podcasts and audio books as I have a good source to audio books through work which lets me download them. I then added them to my plex server and I can use alexa to play them. Far better than paying 7.99 per month with audible for 1 book. It also plays my TV shows, Movies and music.

Admittedly some titles need renaming so alexa can find them and I havent seemed to have it able to play in multi room yet just 1 device or another but not both but still new to that.

You also have chice of sinking your PC music with Google Drive or Microsoft One drive and play your music with Starfish Audio and Starfish Drive. Both supports playing a folder or you can create playlist:

I have all my music on my Android phone. I could swear that I was able to just give a command and have alexa play that music without a 3rd party app. I used to use MyMedia but canceled the subscription when I didn't need to use it to play my music anymore. Now I can't for the life of me figure out how I did it. I didn't use a service like Mymedia, spotify or Plex. Ideas? I have the Alexa app on my phone (obviously). I use Musicolet as my primary music player. I don't have everything on Amazon Music, so that wasn't how I was doing it...

With the free version of PlayOn on your PC and the free MyMedia Channel on your Roku, you've got all you need to easily stream your own videos, photos, and music to your TV. If you haven't already, add the free MyMedia channel to your Roku. Then make sure you have the free version of PlayOn installed on your PC. The first time you launch PlayOn on your PC, just click on Media Library and follow the simple instructions.

I am currently using the Netgear Genie app on my Samsung S5 to stream my music during parties outside off my (2) 4 tb WD HD's connected via USB on the Nighthawk Router. The problem I am having is I cannot create playlists within the app so it's a pain going from song to song. I can access my network with programs like winamp on my laptop which will let me select numorous songs and the party can last for hours. HA!! I would really like to use my phone instead of the laptop. Again. What would be the best way to access my music library and be able to select numorous songs like a playlist.

Your Samsung S5 supports DLNA, so you should be able to enable the DLNA server on the Nighthawk and stream music from it to your phone. On the Nighthawk, go to ADVANCED > USB Functions > ReadySHARE Storage. Click on the Media Server tab and enable DLNA Media Server. Then Apply.

To my horror I just found out that itunes has moved folders (albums) out of the Music folder, Ive always found those folders very well organized (music, movies, podcasts, etc) now Im seeing some albums mixed with those folders (out of the music folder) and some albums IN the music folder as well, even worse I have the same folder inside Music and out!! with a few tracks on each, but in iTunes everything looks normal and it plays the album as usual, Im losing my mind over this I cant find a way to fix it, I even started moving them manually but there are too many, and for the duplicate folders I have to move the tracks that were moved. Any idea on why did this happen? I dont want to move the folders and lose hours only to find out that itunes did it again!! I thank you very very ver much in advance.

Thanks you, but I already know how organization is supposed to work, thats the reason of my concern. I have it organized, and it is still organized for the most part, but part of my albums were moved out of the music folder. Even some tracks of an album are out of the folder and some tracks in.

Josue, I thought you were done with the thread. I am having similar issues with music, audiobooks, artists and authors being scattered all over the place in not apparent order other than alphabetically on both sides of the iTunes Music folder. I have organized them a couple of time with iTunes and it does not seem to work and even thought I set it not to copy files into iTunes it appears to still do that.

On my Nexus 4, there's a folder called /sdcard/Music/ (or just /Music when browsing the phone's storage; Windows 7 calls it Computer\Nexus 4\Internal storage\Music) and I've put a lot of songs in there but the music player doesn't see any of my songs. Why can one app (the file manager, and e.g. Dropbox) see the files, but not another app (Play Music, Apollo, Jukefox)?

In the stock ROM the Nexus 4 default music player should be "Play Music" with an icon that looks like yellow headphones, never heard of Apollo but it's possible this is something your custom ROM's changed.

Most music players on Android get their "media library" from the built-in media scanner service, this should pick up MP3 files stored in any user-accessible storage location on your phone and add them to the scanner's library. Sometimes the media scanner doesn't "notice" new files you've just added and needs to be told to do a rescan, there are apps on the store that can do this, such as Rescan SD, you can find a selection of them with a search of the Play Store if you run one of those and wait a couple of minutes all of your media should be picked up. 006ab0faaa
