MyFriends Privacy Policy

MyFriends helps you track and improve your relationships by logging interactions with friends and groups. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have. By using MyFriends, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We only collect data necessary to provide and improve the App’s features.
1.1 Data you provide directly
Profile data
Notes you write about friends, groups, or interactions.
Friends and group data
Names, tiers, and notes you assign to friends and groups.
Optional contact details you manually enter (e.g. phone, email).
Optional friendship start dates and other metadata.
Interaction logs
When and how you interacted (e.g. text, call, video, in‑person).
Optional quality ratings and notes about the interaction.
Optional attachments: photos, videos, and voice notes that you choose to add.
Subscription and purchase data
Information about in‑app purchases and subscriptions (product ID, subscription status, transaction dates) as provided by Apple’s StoreKit. We do not receive your full payment card or Apple ID details.
1.2 Location data
With your explicit permission, we may collect:
Approximate or precise location
Current city or approximate coordinates to:
Set your “home city”.
Show where friends and groups are located on a map (when you configure them).
Enable optional location‑based reminders (e.g. notify you when you are near a friend’s city).
Background location (Always)
If you enable “Location‑based reminders” and grant “Always” location access, the app may check your location in the background to trigger proximity‑based reminders.
You can change or revoke location permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
1.3 Photos, media, microphone
With your explicit permission, we may access:
Photo album
To let you attach media to interactions or set profile images.
We only access the items you select; we do not scan or upload your entire photo library.
Microphone
To record optional voice notes attached to interactions.
Recordings are stored locally on your device and/or in your iCloud backup if enabled.
1.4 Contacts (if used in your app)
If you enable contact import:
Contacts
With your permission, we may read selected fields (e.g. name, phone number, email) from your device’s Contacts to help you create friend profiles more quickly.
We do not send your contact list to external servers or third‑party services, except as required for iCloud backup or Apple system services.
1.5 Data from Apple
Apple
App Store transaction and subscription information from StoreKit.
Apple Push Notification service tokens (for sending notifications to your device).
2. How we use your information
We use your data to:
Provide core features
Create and manage friends and groups.
Log interactions and show relationship health, streaks, and statistics.
Enable reminders, notifications, and widgets.
Location‑based features
Set your home city and pause/resume reminders intelligently.
Show friends on a map (based on data you enter).
Provide optional proximity‑based reminders if you enable location‑based reminders.
Subscriptions and payments
Determine your subscription status and unlock premium features.
Validate and restore purchases using StoreKit.
Personalization & improvements
Tailor reminders and insights based on your tiers, methods, and usage preferences.
Legal compliance
Comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and respond to lawful requests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for cross‑app advertising tracking.
3. Sharing and third parties
We do not share your personal data with unrelated third‑party advertisers or third‑party AI providers for their own marketing or model‑training purposes. If this ever changes, we will clearly disclose it in‑app and obtain your explicit consent before doing so.
3.1 Data storage and transfers
Your data may be stored on your device, in your iCloud backups (if enabled).
4. Your choices and rights
4.1 Permissions and device controls
You can control many data types directly via iOS settings:
Location: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → PocketFriends.
Photos, Microphone, Contacts: Controlled individually in iOS Settings for PocketFriends.
Notifications: Settings → Notifications → PocketFriends.
Within the App, you can:
Enable or disable location‑based reminders.
Edit or delete friends, groups, and interactions.
Change tiers, contact methods, and reminder preferences.
You can:
Delete specific friends, groups, interactions, and media within the app.
Delete the app from your device (which removes local data; iCloud backups remain under your Apple iCloud settings).
4.3 App Tracking Transparency & privacy labels
PocketFriends does not use third‑party advertising networks that track you across other apps and websites, so we do not present an App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt for ad tracking.
We complete App Store privacy labels and privacy manifests to describe what data is collected, how it is used, and whether it is linked to you, in accordance with Apple’s requirements.
5. Security, retention, and contact
5.1 Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
Platform security features provided by iOS and Apple.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5.2 Data retention
We retain your data for as long as:
You use the App and maintain your data within it; and
As needed to provide the services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
You can delete data at any time from within the app. If you uninstall the app, local data is removed from your device.
5.3 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or privacy practices. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top.
