Artistic Philosophy
Cinema, to me, is the art of organising perception. Beyond narrative, I approach film as a living sensory form, shaped through movement, duration, sound, light and silence. These elements do not simply accompany a story: they transform how the spectator perceives and experiences it, allowing transformation to be felt before it is fully understood.
Biography
Yannik Ruault is a French writer-director-producer based in Edinburgh (Scotland, UK). His work explores cinema as an art of perceptual transformation, where atmosphere, duration, silence, and inner movement reshape the viewer’s experience of time, memory, and identity. Through his methodology Organic Motion, he develops films, research, and public conversations at the intersection of cinematic form, spectatorship, and embodied perception. Since 2025, he is supported by Bureau des auteurs du CNC and Institut Français d'Ecosse.
