BRAND STORY

Jinsasikdang, a restaurant for students at Sungkyunkwan (Myeongryundang), was founded in 1398 by King Taejo. It was located in Banchon, which is now the Myeongryun-dong area. The residents of Banchon had the exclusive right to operate a butcher shop called "hyeonbang" or "darimbang" that slaughtered cattle and other livestock for the sacrificial rites at Sungkyunkwan.

In Joseon, which emphasized agriculture, the slaughter and consumption of cattle were prohibited, but this was allowed within Banchon. Therefore, only Jinsasikdang could serve beef and ribs left over from the sacrificial rites. It is also said that pigs were only slaughtered and sold at butcher shops operated by residents of Banchon who were granted permission.

Myeongryun Jinsa Galbi was named after Jinsasikdang at Myeongryundang, which was visited by the king himself to eat ribs and meat. We are committed to offering affordable prices and the best quality for the price.
