Drumboe Woods and Environs Feasibility Study

What does Drumboe Woods and the wider wooded area mean to you, and
how would you like to see it develop and mature over the next 20 years?

About the Project

What does Drumboe Woods and the wider wooded area mean to you, and how would you like to see it develop and mature over the next 20 years?

A feasibility study is underway to help answer these questions and we want to hear from you, the community, to hear your thoughts and aspirations for Your Place.

The Feasibility Study relates to Drumboe Woods and Environs which includes five separate woods with linkages, with Drumboe Woods being the most popular and well utilised. Together the woods are a key attraction for the community and for visitors to Ballybofey-Stranorlar, providing a network of walking routes along the banks of the River Finn.

The proximity of Drumboe Woods and Environs to the twin towns means they are a valuable recreational amenity. The woods have a variety of natural and cultural heritage features that can provide the foundation for outdoor activities, in the form of walks, paths and trails, combined activity/cultural heritage packages, both “hard” adventure-type and “soft”, less physically arduous walking experiences, as well as those that deliver mental stimulation.

Ambitious and exciting initial concepts have been developed. These concepts are based on from public feedback received in 2019/20.

You can see the concepts on our consultations boards here
