I am interested in what leaf-occupying (phylloplane) fungi can tell us about the quality and safety of the vegetables we consume. My dissertation focuses on the red-pigmented yeast-like fungi of Sporobolomyces discovered on the lettuce phylloplane. I plan to make a career of conducting research and studying the microbial ecology of vegetable crops.
When not in the lab, I enjoy camping, hiking and swimming. If it's too cold outside to do any of those things, I'm probably at TJ Maxx. I began gardening in 2020 during the pandemic. My proudest gardening feats include cantaloupe and the tastiest arugula I've ever had.
