This Privacy Policy explains how Jennifer Walker ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use the MyBirdBook mobile application (the "App").
To provide a personalized birding experience and journal features, we collect the following:
Account Information: We collect your email address to authenticate your identity and sync your data across devices.
Camera and Photos: With your explicit permission, the App accesses your device’s camera and photo library. This allows you to take new photos of birds or upload existing images to attach to your sightings journal.
Precise Location Data: With your permission, the App accesses your device's GPS location to determine the rarity of bird species in your area and to automatically tag the location of your sightings.
User-Provided Content: We store the bird sightings you record, including species names, personal notes, and photos. This content is linked to your account.
Journaling & Media: Camera and Photo access are used exclusively to allow you to document your bird sightings visually within your personal journal.
Authentication: To manage your account and provide secure access to your birding history.
Rarity Validation: To compare your location with eBird data to notify you of rare sightings in your immediate vicinity.
No Third-Party Media Sharing: Your photos and camera data are stored for your personal journal. We do not share your photos or camera data with eBird or any other third parties.
eBird API: Your location coordinates may be sent to eBird to retrieve local bird data. No personal identifiers or account details are shared with eBird.
No Sale of Data: We do not sell or rent your email address, location data, or personal photos to third parties.
Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and all associated data (including photos and sightings) at any time via the App settings or by contacting us at 6thandmagnolia@gmail.com
Permissions: You can revoke Camera, Photo, or Location access at any time through your device’s system settings.
