Communications shared during humanitarian operations can be peppered with acronyms which, for those unfamiliar with them, are like pesky speed bumps towards a quick understanding of the message. There are standard acronyms for any humanitarian operation in the world but there will always be those that are specific to a country. The following is an A to Z list of standard and Yemen-specific acronyms that I found in news reports and other documents covering the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

BLUF - Bottom Line Up Front
DFA - De Facto Authorities. Refers to the Sana'a-based Houthi authorities controlling much of Yemen.
HC/RC - Humanitarian Coordinator/Resident Coordinator. See the UN Resident Coordinator Office for Yemen.
HCT - Humanitarian Country Team.
GoY - Government of Yemen. Refers to the government led by Abdu-Rabu Mansour Hadi. See also IRG.
HAWG - Humanitarian Access Working Group.

MOPIC - Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
PA - Principal Agreement.
SA - Sub-Agreement.
SCMCHA - Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation. Official website (English version): https://www.scmcha.org/en/. Established in Nov 2019 by Presidential Decree 201 but basically a reincarnation of NAMCHA (National Authority for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Response).
