EV Charging a personal view
There has been a vast improvement in the number of EV chargers on the Isle of Wight this year (2023).
The old Geniepoint system has gone and been replaced by Mer chargers of various speeds.
Mer’s link with Octopus Energy via Electroverse is useful to me as I can use their RFID card.
The rules for contactless cards do not apply to the lower powered chargers (< 8kW).
The council web pages for on and off street charging (see below) lists many but not all and needs updating. Please use my web page to see the status of many of the Isle of Wight’s chargers
We know that the car determines the rate of charge but I am puzzled why some 22kW chargers react to my car differently (Chapel St. 3.6 kW , Freshwater 7.4 kW)
It is my understanding that free parking whilst charging will last until 31 December 2024 but please check the signs at the charger.
