Municipal Mayor of Libertad, Antique who unselfishly lead the Libertadnons to have a better future by committing herself to support all the programs of the government to pass on to Libertadnon.
Through her leadership, Libertad received awards such as Galing pook Awarde, Libertad, One of the most Competitive LGUs IN THE Region,,and so much more.
The annual Banigan Festival serves as a showcase for Libertad’s vibrant culture. Eight years ago, former Mayor Mary Jean Te launched the festival. The word banigan is derived from banig (mat), the municipality’s primary output. The idea behind the celebration is based on the significance of banig (bariw) weaving as one of the main sources of income for the Libertadnons. The celebration includes a variety of events, with the Mardi Gras and the Lin-ay kang Libertad — a beauty pageant that honors the beauty, intellect, and character of young Libertadnon women — standing out. The pageant’s banging gown competition is one of its most eagerly anticipated competitive categories. The Banigan Festival is held annually from March 14 to 16.
