Served : Europe, captured on his 25th birthday, January 3, 1945 and liberated April, 23, 1945.

Camps : Stalag IVB.

Captured in the Battle of the Bulge January 3, 1945 (his 25th birthday), and liberated 4/23/1945 by the Russians. See his handwritten note below from the day of his liberation.

This is an amazing story of my amazing father, with detail from his original draft into the Army through his liberation and return home. He rarely spoke about the war, but one day when I was around 18, I got him to record this hour long story in the backyard of our house in California. I later converted the cassette to this digital mp3. Of course, if he had not survived, I would not be here. He married my mom upon his return, and I was born 13 years later.
