My Family Vet Clinic and Surgery

My Family Vet Clinic was established at Bukit Batok in 2012. Dr Vanessa Lin, our Veterinarian, has accumulated years of experience both locally and internationally (Australia and Malaysia) in diagnosing and treating animal related illnesses as well as performing surgeries. She graduated from National Junior College (Singapore) and obtained her Degree in Veterinary Medicine from University of Sydney (Australia).

My Family Vet pride ourselves in giving the best possible care for our patients and clients. We strive to offer high quality, ethical and personalized care for your animals whilst giving you the peace of mind that you are getting the best advice possible. We provide emergency and house call vets in Singapore for restrictions or convenience. Additionally, alternative options and treatment are integral, providing accessible aid to your pet and preventative healthcare that will ensure all animals are offered a chance to avoid preventable diseases.

Dr Vanessa has a keen interest in dermatology, Chinese Medicine Therapies for pets and soft tissue surgeries, of which she had worked in emergency hospitals that demands competence in treating trauma lesions and correcting medical or surgical disorders. This has allowed her to gain valuable experience in caring for and treating critical patients.

Whilst we sincerely hope your pet never has a reason to visit us apart from receiving healthcare and routine check-ups, we will always be one call away if you have any queries or require any assistance regarding your pet.

Our Services

Pets are not just some animals we are feeding and sheltering, they are part of our families. As a full-fledged family member, we want to ensure that they get the same care and attention we give to our children and loved ones. My Family Vet is a pet and animal clinic in Singapore dedicated to taking care of your beloved fur babies. We offer various diagnostic, medical and aesthetic services to ensure your pets’ health and well-being.

CONSULTATION

During the basic consultation, our vet will be checking on your pet’s vitals such as auscultation of the heart and lungs, checking of the body score card (BCS), skin and fur, eyes and ears. If any procedures are required, i.e. ear cleaning or irrigation, anal gland expression, eye examination, etc., additional costs are applicable.

Our dental hygiene services are performed using the IM3 GS Deluxe, providing a thorough scaling of the teeth. Plaque and tartar accumulated will be removed and scaled with any decayed teeth removed. As the procedure requires us to scale both the exterior and interior parts of the teeth, anaesthesia would be required to prevent them from injuring themselves while the procedure is performed.

We have an array of in-houses diagnostic tests, being supported by the latest IDEXX LabStation, IDEXX Catalyst One Chemistry Analyzer, IDEXX Procyte Dx Hematology Analyzer, IDEXX SediVue Dx Urine Sediment Analyzer and IDEXX Snapshot Dx. With these machines, we would be able to obtain results on that day itself, usually in 10 to 20 minutes.

Abdominocentesis is the removal of fluids from the abdominal cavity via a needle. The build up of fluids in the abdominal cavity, also known as ascites, can be caused by certain condition, though some common reason include liver failure and right-sided heart failure. Before performing the procedure, a radiograph is performed to determine the location of fluid accumulation. From there, the area of the body where the needle will be inserted, usually the umbilicus, is prepped and clean to ensure sterility when inserting the needle. After which, once the needle has been inserted, the fluids should stream out steadily. Usually no anaesthesia is required, at most gas sedation given to dogs that are restless.

EYE

An eye examination is usually performed if one of the cause of concerns from the owners are their pet’s eyes, or if during the physical examination the vet noticed any issues pertaining to the eye.
