Okay, I''m stumped. My home internet speed through Spectrum Cable as measured in the Google Wifi app is 438 Mbps down and 21 Mbps up, yet my wifi speed on wifi-connected devices as measured through most of the common speed test apps and sites is less than 50 Mbps down, I've replaced the Google Wifi ethernet cable with a CAT 6, factory reset the access point, and even moved the access point so that it is literally in the line of sight (no obstructions) of my laptop which is 10 feet away, Suggestions?

I'm testing on the 5GHZ. When conducting the speed test, it initially goes to 250 mbps then drops to a final score around 130 mbps down and 35 up. I thought going to a C7800 Nighthawk with 1gb plan on an iPhone 11 pro would give me a lot more than that. Also since it's a 3.1 DOCIS. My Orbi was an older one 3.0 DOCIS but the wifi speeds were close to 275 mbps consistently althouhg upload was only 11 mpbs.

My Download Speed Is Only 4 Mbps

This should address the poor coverage in other parts of the house while giving me higher speeds that I had with the older version of Orbi. The previouse Orbi CBR40 game me up to 300 mpbs off a 500 mbps data plan. With the set up above and and move to 1gb plan, I expect to get at least 400-500 mpbs on my devices that can handle that.

I've had Verizon for about 8 months paying for Gig speed internet. I noticed the last couple of days were incredibly slow so I've tested the speed on half a dozen sites. The speed is less than 50 MBPS!!! I contacted Verizon through chat and they tried to tell me the speed was in the 500s and that's all I could expect from a wireless connection for my Imac. They were less than helpful. All I know is that 50 MBPS isn't anywhere near 50% of a gig.

No one can guarantee you wireless speed. Every house is different with different issues that may affect your wifi. If you want better wireless speeds you might need to reposition your router to a more centralized location. If you want gig speeds then you will need to hardwire your computer.

It sounds like your devices is connected to the 2.4 GHz band. If SON is enabled then disabled it and connect to the 5 GHz band. Like already said, wireless isn't guaranteed and has many variables. Also if you are getting 50 mbps that isn't slow. You can stream 4k at 25 mbps. The gigabit connection is for bandwidth sharing among multiple devices. Not really for any one device to speedtest a gig.

now wireless is as I have posted a gazillion times is not guaranteed. So connect your iMac via ethernet cable and test via the verizon speedtest site. If you are not using a verizon router the tech support stops at your ONT.

if you are using their router and getting these slow speeds on direct connect call them and have them replace the router. If you are using your own router your setting may be incorrect on the router or a bad router. You then must replace it on your own.

They installed the wireless in the basement and told me I'd get 500 mbps - which is more than fine. The cable connection in my office is not live so I can't check it wired. I got a new router - from Verizon. Now I'm getting a whopping 200 mbps - sometimes. Sometimes it's still as slow as it ever was. I've called, I've chatted and I've replaced. Not happy.

im monitoring my ps4 while its doing the modern warfare season 2 update which is around a 50 GB download and the network monitor only shows it downloading at 50 mbps sometimes it goes up and sometimes it goes down. i even allocated like 130 mbps to my ps4 on the QoS. I usually get 150 mbps on download on speed test. isnt it supposed to download faster.

The other issue is the download is set by whichever server the modern warfare session is on. It might only have the capacity at that time for 50mbps. Just because you set 130mbps, doesn't mean its available from MW.

fraser, im confused so are you saying the network monitor is telling me how much bandwidth each devices are using in megabytes per second? because its not when i do a speed test on my pc. the network monitor will show that my pc is using 150 download and 15 upload. which is near identical to what my isp/speed test results are.

If you speedtest on your pc/laptop, its usually running off a server designed to saturate a internet connection. For your modern warfare setup, its going PC------>router---->modem------>ISP (and several other steps)-------Modem/gateway (MW side)---------> modern warefare server. If MW maxed out everyone's connection, they'd have to pay for a rediculous connection to the ISP. so they limit their max speed a bit. It's going to be a bit variable as users are connected to the MW server and using bandwidth.

Just because you have 150mbps connection doesn't mean the modern warfare or other gaming servers are going to saturate that connection. I have a gigabit connection and I rarely see anywhere need gigabit speeds unless I'm speedtesting.

its actually fine. i think what sensei said is most likely correct as i was downloading call of duty titles like Black ops 3 and Ghosts yesterday and it was downloading really fast, but updating Modern warfare 2019 was going hella slower than usual . and the network monitor showed speeds above 150+ Mbps when i was downloading black ops 3 and ghosts which i get on speed test results. i dont run bufferbloat because i dont want my speeds being capped.

I'm using a private internet connection in my area and they're providing me 150 MBPS internet speed, when I got it first time I was getting full 150 MBPS speed but now I'm getting only 100 MBPS even on dial up I'm getting same results and I'm using D-Link DIR 825 AC1200 Router and recently upgraded the firmware of it and even on 5ghz wifi I'm getting 100 mbps, any help would be so helpful for me and extremely sorry for my bad english. Thank you

I use only wired connection on my desktop and they're saying that you have to reinstall windows but I don't think reinstalling the windows would fix the issue, if it's something wrong with my desktop or windows then why I'm getting 100 MBPS on 5ghz wifi ? I used to get 150 mbps also on the 5ghz wifi.

make sure you're using correct grade of ethernet cables between your modem and the router. cat5 will simply not go over 100mbps. you will need cat5e or cat6 for that. also check if your router actually has gigabit enabled ports. I see plenty of cheaper routers, even with AC, that still only have 10/100 ports.

I had a similar issue. It turned out to be the Killer Network driver from the on board NIC. Within the software there is a section for setting the internet speed limits with a "go" button. I had ran it prior to upgrading my internet, and it had locked my speed at the original (60down/5up). After disabling that, i was getting the new speeds (150down/15 up)

any other devices connected? temp disable your wifi, and only have your test computer connected. get that a fair bit myself, complain they cant get there full speed, find out they have over 30 devices connected and some are taking up all the bandwidth.

When my two computers are directly connected to my old router, I see speeds of about 400/20 Mbps on both. One is a decade old HP Z600 running Windows 10 Pro and the other is a newly built Intel NUC11TNBi7 motherboard installed in a fanless Akasa case running Windows 11 Pro. When I connect them to the GX20, The Z600 shows a speed of about 300/20, which is a bit better than I expected. However, I only see a speed of just under 10/10 Mbps with the NUC, no matter which port on the GX20 or Cat 6 cable I use.

On closer inspection of the properties of my network card (Intel I225-LM), I see the speed is displayed as only being 10 Mbps instead of the 1.0 Gbps I was seeing when connected to my old router. When I check the link speed of the port on the GX20 in the Meraki Go app, this is also showing as only 10 Mbps. I have switched around cables with the same result. I also carefully cleaned each GX20 port with a clean soft brush, but there was no debris whatsoever as it is brand new.

The NUC bios and its network card driver is up to date. I also tried changing the "Speed & Duplex" manually from Auto-Negotiation to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex and then 2.5 Gbps Full Duplex, but the speed did not change.

The Meraki-Go advertises 250mbps throughput. The firewall needs to look at all the traffic traversing the network. This limitation is fine for many small business that have 50/100/200 mbps bandwidth or less here in the states we still have DSL in some locations. If your setup is located in a residential area where the bandwidth tends to be much higher the Meraki-Go may not be the one for you. If you are in a business district and you have and need that bandwidth then the Meraki MX series is the one for you. The MX is a true business Security Appliance and the price reflects that as well.

CISCO would not support my GX20 because I bought it off ebay and it was apparently an ex-demo unit. So I binned it and bought another from Amazon. Now on booting auto-negotiation speed sometimes drops from 2.5 Gbps to 100 Mbps, but restarting the adapter once or twice gets it back up to 1 Gbps. All-in-all I'm happy with the 250+ Mbps hard-wired and 300+ Mbps wireless speeds I'm getting. e24fc04721
