Welcome to DARK, a video player application developed by MaaY Technologies. This Privacy Policy explains how DARK ("we", "our", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application ("App") available on the Google Play Store. We take your privacy seriously. DARK is designed to provide a seamless, safe, and secure video playback experience directly from your device’s local storage — without collecting, transmitting, or sharing your personal data with anyone.
DARK itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information such as:
Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address
Your photos, videos, or media files
Your video playback history or usage behavior
All video files and transferred files remain on your device unless you explicitly choose to share them with another nearby device using the File Transfer feature.
DARK does not upload your files to our servers or any cloud service.
DARK displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service.
AdMob may collect and process certain information automatically, including but not limited to:
Device information (such as device identifiers)
Advertising ID
IP address
General location (non-precise)
Ad interaction data
This information is collected directly by Google, not by DARK, and is used to:
Show relevant ads
Measure ad performance
Prevent fraud and abuse
We do not have access to or control over the data collected by AdMob.

DARK scans your device’s local storage (only after you grant permission) to display video files available on your device.
All processing happens locally on your phone. DARK does not upload, sync, or analyze your media files over the internet.
Core features include:
Playing videos stored locally on your device
Video navigation (seek, next/previous, jump controls)
Zoom in/out during playback
Deleting videos (only with user confirmation)
Access to About, Feedback, and Privacy Policy sections
DARK also includes a local File Transfer feature that allows you to send and receive files between nearby Android devices.
This feature:
Uses your local Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct connection
May require Location permission because Android requires it for nearby device discovery
Transfers files directly between devices
Does not upload files to our servers
Does not store transferred files outside your device unless you choose to save them
All transfers occur directly between participating devices.
DARK requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality:
READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_AUDIO (Android 13+)
or
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (older Android versions)
Used to display and access media files stored on your device.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Required only when you choose to delete files.
NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES (Android 13+)
Used to discover nearby devices and establish local file transfer connections.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
Required by Android for discovering nearby devices when using Wi-Fi Direct or similar technologies.
DARK does not use your location to determine your physical whereabouts or for tracking purposes.
INTERNET
Required only for displaying advertisements provided by Google AdMob.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE
Used to check Wi-Fi status before starting file transfers.
CHANGE_WIFI_STATE
Used only when necessary for local connectivity features.
DARK does not maintain any servers or cloud storage for user data. All files remain on your device and are protected by Android’s built-in security mechanisms.
DARK uses the following third-party service:
Google AdMob – for displaying banner advertisements
No other third-party analytics or tracking SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics) are used.
DARK does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13.
However, since the app displays ads via Google AdMob:
Ads may be non-personalized where required by law
Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise children while using the app
You have full control over:
Granting or revoking storage permissions via Android settings
Enable or disable permissions for storage, nearby devices, and location at any time.
Resetting or limiting ad personalization from your device settings
Uninstalling the app at any time
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal requirements or app functionality. Any updates will be published on the Google Play Store listing or associated website.
