Is there some way to filter out the Bollywood movies in this "service" ? im kind of fed up with all the trash netflix has, theres literally way more bollywood stuff than american/asian/euro movies now. They really need to have a setting to filter out that section its unreal.

I do watch asian & euro movies but damn i would never spend 1 minute on a bollywood film, i think by just searching around for new stuff in the last week i saw atleast 3-4 movies that had the same title and/or font from old classic or newer movies in "psycho" and "U-Turn" literally stolen logo movies. Thats not really only the worst thing like russians or other proud nationalists they rate everything a atleast a 8 or 10/10 on imdb when in reality they would prob be mostly dumpster fires.

2023 was a standout year for Bollywood films with a broad range of genres and themes represented in the field, and many that rose to the top as the best of the year. From movies on grand scales with sweeping set pieces and enormous dance numbers, to smaller family dramas with a quieter tone, each movie brings something unique and valuable to the viewer. As with many successful Bollywood films, popular actors provide familiar faces in these films along with newcomers just making their name in the film scene.

In recent years, Bollywood cinema has been getting more popular with Western audiences, and these viewers are coming to appreciate all the films have to offer. Bollywood movies have long been known to deal with issues of class, race, and politics, all while providing fun visuals and compelling interpersonal plots. No matter the film's story, Bollywood movies always move the audience and leave them with an impactful message by the end of the film.

In 2007, the median income of the Indian household nearly doubled over seven years, even after adjusting for inflation, according to the Central Statistical Organization. This meant people had extra income to spare and could travel to the dreamy locations of their favorite movies. Europe was no longer just for the rich and famous or a set for Bollywood. With trips to places like France, Italy, and the U.S., Indian consumers took in the local fare, and wine became a big part of that.

Background:  Smoking in Hollywood movies is a known risk factor for teen smoking in the USA and Europe, but little is known about the association between exposure to tobacco use in Bollywood movies and teen tobacco use in India.

Methods:  A cross-sectional sample of 3956 adolescents (eighth and ninth grades, ages 12-16 years) from 12 randomly selected New Delhi schools was surveyed in 2009, assessing tobacco use status, receptivity to tobacco promotions (based on owning or being willing to wear tobacco-branded merchandise) and exposure to tobacco use in movies. Quartiles of exposure to tobacco use in popular Bollywood movies released from 2006 to 2008 (n=59) were determined by content coding them for tobacco use and querying the adolescents whether they had seen each one. Logistic regression was used to control for covariates including age, gender, parent education, school performance, sensation-seeking propensity, family and peer tobacco use, and authoritative parenting.

Results:  Altogether, the 59 movies contained 412 tobacco use occurrences. The prevalence of ever tobacco use among adolescents was 5.3%. Compared with low-exposure adolescents (quartile 1), the adjusted odds of ever tobacco use among high-exposure adolescents (quartile 4) was 2.3 (95% CI 1.3 to 3.9). Being receptive to tobacco promotions was also associated with higher adjusted odds of ever tobacco use, 2.0 (95% CI 1.4 to 3.0).

Conclusion:  Watching tobacco use in Bollywood movies and receptivity to tobacco promotional activities were both independently associated with ever tobacco use among adolescents in India, with ORs being similar to the studies of adolescents elsewhere.

Either way, these must-watch movies are well worth the two-plus hours you'll probably have to block off in your day to watch them (Bollywood movies are famously long). Whether you're a fan of romance, tragedy, or comedy, there's definitely a film for you in this colorful world. Below, a list of Bollywood staples that you need to add to your watch list, from epic historical dramas to kickass action movies.

This epic drama focuses on an impoverished woman who is forced to care for her two sons alone while surviving threats from a nefarious money-lender when her husband leaves the family in disgrace. At the time it was made, Mother India was one of the most expensive Hindi movies ever made and is considered one of the most revered movies in Bollywood history.

The Lunchbox is one of those beautifully touching movies that tells a story you didn't know you desperately needed until you've seen it. In the movie, a woman named Ila tries to rekindle the spark in her marriage by preparing a special lunch for her (not-so-great) husband. The plan goes awry, however, and the lunch ends up in front of an antisocial widower instead. When her husband doesn't mention his special meal, Ila adds a note to the next lunch she prepares (which also goes to said widower) and an unlikely friendship is born.

That is accurate. But today, HayotFilms will reveal more of what Bollywood movies can offer to you. Yup, there is so much more to see and learn here. What we generally know is just the tip of the iceberg.

Formerly known as Bombay cinema, Bollywood refers to the film industry based in Mumbai, India. Bollywood movies are by far the most famous in India, and also the most popular Indian films internationally. Their box office and number of viewers are huge, and so is their budget.

Bollywood is also known for its grand musical scenes, romantic dramas, and unique set design. Their shooting locations are mostly in India, but they shoot all over the world as well. It is true that you can somehow see and travel the world by just watching these amazing Bollywood movies.

We have all grown up watching #Doordarshan which on Sunday showed a classic Bollywood movie at 12 noon which we eagerly used to watch because we didn't have any other options. Surprisingly, we used to like them - the classics. The stories, the action, the dialogues, though not top-notch, were still enjoyable. We used to love watching them, and as evening approached and we stepped out of our homes to play on the street - we used to reprise the role of the protagonist and repeat the dialogues with as much vigor & pomp as we could muster for the imitation. We used to love these movies, they used to take us away from our daily routines to a world of great stories (some copied) and exciting possibilities. The attraction and hold of these movies were such on the public mind that people used to run away from homes to go to Mumbai either to become an actor or to meet their favorite 'hero'. We are all aware of these facts.

We used to love #Bollywood movies when we had very limited viewing opportunities in the form of either Doordarshan or going to the local movie theatres. We used to enjoy the stories that they offered which used to fire our imagination and made us forget about our mundane lives for a little while.

As time progressed, people got many options available to them in the form of cable TV, VCD, DVDs, then DTH and now OTT platforms. With time, people got exposed to movies of different genres made in different parts of the world. (Seriously, can you compare Karan Johar's movies with that of Alfred Hitchcock? It's laughable!). This was a slow change attributing to gradual increase in the average income of an average Indian household. As spending power increased, people started providing the best things to the next generation, which included entertainment. From watching 'Kaante' which was a Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed 1992 Quentin Tarantino's 'Reservoir Dogs' to watching 'The Matrix' on the CD players, the next generation started getting exposed to the glorious stories the world had to offer.

At that crucial time, what Bollywood did can be called stupid for the lack of a better word. Instead of diving down to find the best stories from the plethora of great writers and novelists in our own country (like Munshi Premchand, Jayshankar Prasad, etc.), what Bollywood did was to copy the Hollywood movies, their stories and make an Indian version of that story even though it didn't fit or resonate with the cultural ethos of the societal structure. This was done in order to make quick profits and it worked for a while too.

Although copy culture had been prevalent in the bollywood industry for quite a while. For example, the legendary movie 'Sholay' is a mixture of 'The Good, the bad and the ugly', 'The Magnificent Seven', 'Once Upon a Time in The West' and 'For A Few Dollars More Each' - all hollywood classics. The movie 'Satte pe Satta' was a copy of 'Seven brides for seven brothers', and the list goes on. Then what changed?

And OTT did just that. It offered an escape. The entertainment industry started churning out more and more content specifically created for OTTs as all the movie theatres and PVRs were shut. This led to a massive boost in OTT platform's revenue from subscriptions. Which led to more people than ever having access to global content with which they can now make comparisons. They got exposed to the feeling of just how good a story can be and how well it can be portrayed which had bollywood at a sore disadvantage. The standard increased. The same formula of copy paste could not work now. 006ab0faaa
