I'm Matylda, a highly meticulous, resilient and hard-working individual who is keen on helping all patients through hard times. I am a final-year BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy student with a strong passion for the musculoskeletal aspect of injuries. My interests are in rehabilitation, injury prevention, and hands-on therapy techniques. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, injury mechanisms, assessment techniques, and evidence-based treatment methods. My work lies well in hands-on therapy, such as massage, the use of electrotherapy agents, joint immobilisation, and functional rehabilitation exercises, while guiding individuals back to their full potential following injury.
Throughout my degree, I have developed the confidence and competence to assess, diagnose, and manage a range of musculoskeletal injuries. This has been strengthened by my placement experiences in both a sports injury clinic and a football club setting, where I have taken full responsibility for assessing new patients, planning and delivering treatment interventions, and designing return-to-sport rehabilitation programs. These environments have allowed me to apply theory to practice and make clinical decisions independently or with minimal supervision. Working both independently and under supervision has helped me grow in confidence and clinical reasoning overall, making my practice my primary skill to help patients recover.
My placement at the football club has enhanced my ability to perform in high-pressure situations, such as pitch-side first aid during matches and training. I have provided acute injury care, post-match treatment, and early-stage rehab interventions while communicating effectively with coaches and athletes to support safe and timely returns to sport. This experience has improved my ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional when managing sudden injuries or setbacks.
In the clinical setting, I have worked with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions across all stages of recovery. I have focused on delivering treatments, including massage therapy, joint mobilisations, stretching techniques, and progressive exercise programs. I particularly enjoy using clinical reasoning to adapt treatment plans based on patient response and using measurable outcomes to monitor progress.
I am a reflective practitioner who values feedback and strives for continuous professional growth. I regularly review my performance and identify areas for improvement, refining my approach accordingly. I am committed to staying up to date with current research and best practices to ensure that my patients receive safe, effective, and evidence-based care.
In the future, I aim to continue developing my skills as a sports therapist and contribute to athletes' wellbeing and performance. Whether in a clinical, sporting, or rehabilitation setting, I am dedicated to delivering high-quality care and supporting individuals through every step of their recovery journey.
