Sorors, as we get back to the business of Alpha Kappa Alpha, I would like to implement tips for Zoom etiquette that should become our norm. The tips below should become the norm when meeting with the Regional Director or virtually attending any of the Mid-Western Region’s events.
Cameras should always be on. If you are driving, please pull over or do not join the call until you are safely parked.
Your microphone should always be muted unless you have been called on to speak. The chat feature is always a viable option for communication.
Please utilize the “hand raise” feature if you have any questions and wait to be called on.
Please utilize the various reactions to express emotions.

Sorors, join our Former Mid-Western Regional Directors (FRDs) for a unique opportunity to engage in open, meaningful dialogue that encourages both reflection and growth.
The goal of this roundtable is not only to learn from the wealth of leadership experience of our FRDs but also to create a space where sorors can actively mediate discussions, share their own perspectives, and foster a deeper understanding of how we can all contribute to the legacy of our sisterhood.
Together, we’ll bridge the wisdom of past leadership with today’s challenges, all while strengthening the bonds that unite us as sorors.

Effective Saturday, October 19, 2024, access to the Members Only site went offline and will not be accessible. During this planned migration window, you will receive additional information via email, including a welcome email that will contain a link to reset your password for the new Members Only portal when the system comes online. Once your password is set up, it will be the same password that you will use for the new Members Only portal, regional Members Only pages, and regional registration sites.
You can contact the corporate office Help Desk during this downtime. However, members of the staff will not be able to process any transactions, including but not limited to processing dues or making purchases. Members may continue with regional event registration on the regional sites.
On or about Tuesday, October 29, 2024, access to the new Members Only portal will go live.

We are currently looking for sponsors for the 95th Mid-Western Regional Conference, which will be held in Des Moines, IA, from March 19th to 23rd, 2025. Please submit all confirmed sponsorships to the Corporate Sponsorship Committee at akamwr.corpsponsors@gmail.com. Please specify if the sponsorship is for a specific event or for the entire conference.

Sponsorship can be in the form of monetary donations or in-kind donations equivalent to the package dollar amount. Packages can be customized upon request to meet the sponsor's needs.

The Pearls for Philanthropy Affinity Group is now open for your 2024-2025 membership. Pearls for Philanthropy began in 2023 as an affinity group for members of the Mid-Western Region. This membership pays annual fees that support the professional and leadership development of undergraduate Sorors as well provide increased capacity for the Mid-Western Region.

The November 5th election is a little over a month away, and voter registration deadlines are quickly approaching for several Mid-Western states. The Mid-Western Region Communications Team has prepared an Election Booklet to help fuel your initiatives around social justice.

Please review the Mid-Western Region Election Booklet and share it with your chapter members. This guide provides important election dates and deadlines, ideas for voter engagement events, and a regional chapter challenge initiated by Madam Regional Director.
Use the Voter Toolkit provided by the International Connection and Social Action Committee and document all voter contacts, including chapter voter engagement activities and individual sorors' voter engagement efforts. All voter contacts should be documented on the Soar to the Polls: Voter Engagement Call to Action and Chapter Challenge Data Collection Form.
Please discuss the Chapter Challenge at your October Chapter Meetings. Remember, the goal is to TAKE FOUR OR MORE in 2024, so let's prepare to SOAR TO THE POLLS!
The chapters that are the most creative with their community outreach will also receive special recognition at Regional Conference.

Hello Sorors,
It is football season and time to re-sign inactive players to our roster!!!! We want to keep the momentum of engaging sorors who want to reactivate with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.
We welcome all members back to the team!
During the months of September through December 2024, Madam Regional Director wants our Mid-Western chapters to increase our reactivation numbers.

We need you to pass the ball to our inactive sorors for our region to reach the goal line. We are asking each chapter to host their Reactivation Event during the month of September, and we have provided a playbook to reactivate sorors through the end of the year.
The chapter that gets the highest number of reactivations will win $500. Sorors, we want to see the Mid-Western Region reactivate sorors to make a touchdown and win the game!!!!

What is YOUR chapter doing to promote mentorship? The Mid-Western Region's Membership Committee is calling all chapters to share their best practices in mentoring.
Share your “Mentoring Moments” in a 2–3-minute mp4. video format. “Mentoring Moments” videos will be showcased in the region throughout the year.

100 Years of Sisterhood and Service
Sorors, as we continue to celebrate our 100th year as the Mid-Western Region, we want to encourage all Mid-Western Region chapters to participate in our “100 Acts of Service and Sisterhood” challenge.

With this challenge, we are asking chapters to complete 100 hours of activities focusing on the current administration’s six initiatives. The challenge will run through the end of the year, December 31, 2024. Hours can be tracked by using this free downloadable form. Completed forms may be submitted to Soror Lindsay Echols, Mid-Western Region Representative to the International Programs Committee at lindsayechols1908@gmail.com.
If you feel that your chapter cannot meet the 100-hour requirement, a $100.00 donation can be made in lieu of the hours. Any proceeds received will go towards the MWR Region’s Boule Suite, Cluster Meetings, and the new and upcoming Undergraduate Summit. Should you decide to donate $100.00, please make checks payable to “AKA Mid-Western Region” and in the memo line, please write “100 Year Celebration”. Checks can be mailed to:

To ensure we capture all sorors that have now become an Ivy Beyond the Wall, a submission link has been created for ease of reporting. Ivy Beyond the Wall submissions should be provided by the Chapter Basilei as soon as the chapter is notified. Forms will be accepted for all sorors who have become an Ivy Beyond the Wall from the end of the 2024 Mid-Western Regional Conference through the end of the year. Please use the following link.
