Sorors, several severe storms have devastated the Mid-Western Region leaving a trail of destruction. Sorors in our region have sustained loss of power and/or damage to their homes or property. Thankfully, we have not received any reports of injury or loss of life. Please continue to pray for all families affected by this tragedy.

A disaster relief plan has been initiated and we are ready to assist any sorors impacted by these horrible storms. Please find guidance from Soror Sandra Foster, Chairman of the International Disaster Relief Committee as well as the Member Relief Request Form.

Please keep our Sorors and the communities impacted by the storms in your prayers.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we encourage you all to prioritize your mental health. A simple phone call or knock on a door can save a life. Throughout the month of May, the Mid-Western Region’s Mental Wellness Committee will be providing insight into mental health topics by providing groups as well as materials and information.

The mission of the Mental Wellness Committee is to provide resources to sorors in the region who are dealing with crisis within their families or themselves, providing privacy and integrity. The resources provided will be from licensed persons and businesses that are included on the National Mental Health Resource site and those licensed and approved businesses listed within our Region.

100 Years of Sisterhood and Service

Sorors, as we continue to celebrate our 100th year as the Mid-Western Region, we want to encourage all Mid-Western Region chapters to participate in our “100 Acts of Service and Sisterhood” challenge. With this challenge, we are asking chapters to complete 100 hours of activities focusing on the current administration’s six initiatives. The challenge will run through the end of the year, December 31, 2024. Hours can be tracked by using this free downloadable form. Completed forms may be submitted to Soror Lindsay Echols, Mid-Western Region Representative to the International Programs Committee at lindsayechols1908@gmail.com.

If you feel that your chapter cannot meet the 100-hour requirement, a $100.00 donation can be made in lieu of the hours. Any proceeds received will go towards the MWR Region’s Boule Suite, Cluster Meetings, and the new and upcoming Undergraduate Summit. Sorors, we are missing in action! Each year the Mid-Western Region impacts over 1,000 members of our communities with sustainable service projects such as CHIPP™ and YLI, but it is only shared locally. The Mid-Western Region is small, but mighty and Madam Regional Director encourages us to show that. We can do this! Submission details can be found in your latest Ivy Leaf magazine.
