FROM THE DESK OF MADAM REGIONAL DIRECTOR
Sorors, as we prepare to get back to the business of Alpha Kappa Alpha, I would like to implement tips for Zoom etiquette that should become our norm.
Cameras should always be on. If you are driving, please pull over or do not join the call until you are safely parked.
Your microphone should always be muted unless you have been called on to speak. The chat feature is always a viable option for communication.
Please utilize the “hand raise” feature if you have any questions and wait to be called on.
Please utilize the various reactions to express emotions.
I cannot wait to see your beautiful faces in the coming weeks.
Please let us know if you have been elected or appointed to a public office. The information will be shared with the International Connection Committee and used in the Mid-Western Region to build our coalition to advocate for change.
If you have been elected or appointed to a public office, please complete the form at this link.
Sorors,
We have work to do! There are less than 100 days until the election, and the countdown is on. Our Pink and Green Job is to REGISTER, EDUCATE, AND MOBILIZE voters.
The first step is to REGISTER VOTERS. The goal is to target populations with low voter turnout rates. This includes the youth, returning citizens, and those who have become apathetic and disengaged from the political process. Don't forget to seek help from our partner, When We All Vote, to assist in your registration efforts.
Next, EDUCATE your communities by hosting candidate forums and election town hall events. Now more than ever, we must ensure that voters are armed with the knowledge to make an informed decision in November.
Lastly, have a plan for MOBILIZING voters to cast their ballots. Create your voting plan now and encourage others to do the same.
The theme for this election is TAKE FOUR OR MORE in '24. If you attended Boule, you received your Take Four Or More in '24 button. Wear them proudly. To order additional buttons, please click here. These buttons can be worn by anyone and given to the community to share our message.
The International Connection and Social Action Committee has prepared flyers and graphics for your use, which can be accessed here.
Sorors, let's get FIRED UP AND READY TO SOAR TO THE POLLS!

Sorors, as we continue to celebrate our 100th year as the Mid-Western Region, we want to encourage all Mid-Western Region chapters to participate in our “100 Acts of Service and Sisterhood” challenge. With this challenge, we are asking chapters to complete 100 hours of activities focusing on the current administration’s six initiatives. The challenge will run through the end of the year, December 31, 2024. Hours can be tracked by using this free downloadable form. Completed forms may be submitted to Soror Lindsay Echols, Mid-Western Region Representative to the International Programs Committee at lindsayechols1908@gmail.com.
If you feel that your chapter cannot meet the 100-hour requirement, a $100.00 donation can be made in lieu of the hours. Any proceeds received will go towards the MWR Region’s Boule Suite, Cluster Meetings, and the new and upcoming Undergraduate Summit. Sorors, we are missing in action! Each year the Mid-Western Region impacts over 1,000 members of our communities with sustainable service projects such as CHIPP™ and YLI, but it is only shared locally. The Mid-Western Region is small, but mighty and Madam Regional Director encourages us to show that. We can do this! Submission details can be found in your latest Ivy Leaf magazine.
