As we approach Valentine's Day, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the many ways we show love – whether to family, friends, or ourselves. This special day is not just about flowers, chocolates, and cards, but about celebrating the connections that keep our hearts strong in more ways than one.
In this edition of our newsletter, we’re highlighting the powerful connection between love and heart health. Whether it's practicing heart-healthy habits or simply sharing a moment of kindness, this season reminds us that the best way to care for our hearts is to show love—inside and out.
Let’s spread some love, and while we’re at it, take a step toward better heart health together.
Happy Valentine's Day! 💖

Soror Andrea Jones
This month’s Sisterly Spotlight is shining on Soror Andrea Jones! Soror Gwendoly Squires shared these sentiments about Soror Andrea:
“The personal, professional and sorority life of Golden Soror Andrea Jones is consistent with our motto "service to all mankind." She has been harnessing her talents to serve all mankind since 1975. She dedicates her career to promoting economic development, employment and entrepreneurship and always puts social responsibility at the heart of her decisions. Soror Andrea was awarded the “2024 - Overall Outstanding Programs Award.”
This award is given each year to a Soror who has excelled in sorority activities and her community, in addition to her outstanding contribution to attendance at: regional conference, boule, cluster, chapter retreat, Mu Omega chapter professional development, membership experience, transition meetings, leadership training, MWR leadership seminars, and citywide events sponsored by local chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and community events. She has also been nominated for the 95th Mid-Western Regional Conference, Mizura C. Allen Outstanding Golden/Senior Award.”
Congratulations, Soror Andrea!
Do you want to shine a light on a soror who may not always be publicly recognized but exemplifies kindness, compassion, care, and a nurturing spirit in all they do? If so, submit your nomination by completing the Sisterly Spotlight Form. Please ensure the form is fully completed before submission.
The committee will carefully review all nominations for accuracy. Eligible names will be entered into a monthly lottery, and one soror will be selected each month. General members' names are welcomed, as well. The selected soror and her sisterly acts will be submitted to Madam Regional Director for approval before being celebrated on social media. While a soror may be nominated multiple times, she can win only once per year. Photos are highly encouraged but not required.
Key Deadline: All nominations must be submitted by the 15th of each month.
