Help Mt. Whitney Pioneer Foundation support all student organizations including clubs, academies and athletics. Your donation goes to helping students and staff provide opportunities for Mt. Whitney students. If you would like to donate to a specific group please note which program.
What is the Foundation?
The Mt. Whitney Pioneer Foundation is an approved 501 (c) (3) with the IRS.
The Foundation was formed to support all groups on campus with our knowledge of fundraising and non-profit status.
This includes:
Accepting donations on your behalf.
Allowing you to accept electronic payments.
Allowing you to host other fundraisers, such as prize drawings, spirit gear sales, crowdfunding, product sales, restaurant nights etc.
Until June 1 2027 “prize drawings” will need to be conducted under specific conditions.
What happens to my money?
Each group's funds are kept as a separate line item. Monthly updates and statements will be emailed each group after the monthly meeting. The Coach/Advisor of the group is in charge of those funds, with brief approval from MW Admin to ensure they are spent in ways that benefit the group.
The Foundation is the custodian of your funds. The Foundation does not dictate how your funds are spent.
We want to empower MW, not handcuff it.
What types of fundraisers can I do?
Prize drawings, spirit gear sales, crowdfunding, product sales, restaurant nights etc. Please see our list of suggested fundraisers.
Who do I make the check out to?
Mt. Whitney Pioneer Foundation, with a memo of the specific group it should be allocated to.
How do I make a fundraising request?
Submit the Fundraising Request Form to the foundation for approval. Forms must be approved by MW Admin and should be submitted by the 1st Friday of each month. *Please refer to the fundraising procedures above..
What type of payments can I take?
Concessions: Cash (with cash box provided by the Foundation) and Square
All other fundraisers: Cash (with cash box provided by the Foundation), Square or checks made out to Mt. Whitney Pioneer Foundation.
Are concessions just for sports teams?
Absolutely not! Have an event that people are attending, have a concession stand!
What can I sell?
Please see our Concession page for a “ how-to” and guidelines per VUSD and the Health Dept.
How do I start an account with the Foundation?
Please complete an account registration form found on our website
How can I find out my balance?
Balance Sheets are mailed out after the monthly meeting held the second Monday of each month. If there is a more current need for a balance email the foundation or contact the foundation treasurer.
What if there are return checks or counterfeit bills?
If there is a returned check the Foundation will contact the group and have them collect the funds from the person who donated, plus a $25 returned check fee.
In the case of a counterfeit bill it is the responibility of the volunteers accepting the money to make sure bill are not fraudulent. The Foundation will deduct the amount of the counterfeit bills from the groups deposit.
Why is there a fee to use square?
The Foundation charges a 5% fee to use square because we are charged a processing fee of a percentage and also an amount per transaction.
What happens if the Foundation Dissolves?
While this is not something we want to see happen, if the Foundation dissolves, money for each group will be transferred to each group's ASB account..
