The Mt Wallace state model aircraft flying field has undergone significant development since it was first established. A summary of the available infrastructure that the club, with the very signficiant help of its sponsors, has deployed is:
3 modern ablution facilities with toilets, showers and hot and cold water, backed by a state of the art septic system
2 steel sun shelters for easy watching
a camping area
a weather station
a huge N/S runway (suitable for jets) and provision for E/W
a small water area for float planes
a large agricultural shed for housing our equipment
3 ride on mowers
BBQ
storage shelves
sundry garden tools
4 water tanks
an above ground watering system for the runway
a container for general storage and for serving food
car park
drainage (it can be very wet at Mt Wallace!)
entrance road and gate
power
water bore
We also now have a portable used classroom which will become the clubrooms (grants needed !). This is on site, but not currently deployed and is the last major piece of infrastructure to be delivered.
This infrastructure has been funded by a combination of community grants (e.g. the local windfarms and our community bank - see sponsors on the home page) that the club has succeeded in winning - as well as grants from the VMAA and MAAA. The development has gone relatively quickly, despite the impact of COVID in the middle of the program.
