School History

As early as 1901 or even before construction of the Gabaldon Building in 1911, educational system was already on its occurrence at Meycauayan Elementary School. It was one of the public schools, which the Americans organized and supervised. English was the medium of instruction used by the American soldiers who happened to be the teachers. Many learned how to read and write the language. Those who achieved capability were given the chance to teach. Classes took place under the acacia tree and later on inside the cogon-structured classrooms. Teachers then were called by their first name just like “Maestro Tiago”. School children came from the place and from other neighboring barrios and barangays.

During the Japanese era, the school became the shelter and was used as the invaders’ garizon. The school function was temporarily stopped, but then later on continued.

Bustling activities followed. Starting without a penny, the school was aided by the courtesies of its many friends and the office of the City. Despite adverse financial conditions, the board disposed funds and construction was begun on the temporary buildings.

It was after the liberation when the school grew in attendance and performance. It became one of the pilot schools in the province.

Being the center of education in the West side and its nearness to various amenities and places like the municipal hall, church and market, the school was then called “The Meycauayan West Central School”, the leading school in Meycauayan for a long period of time and until at present.

Its vision is to operate beyond the limits of excellence towards the maximum development of every learner to be functionally literate, equipped with life skills, appreciative with the arts and sports imbued with the desirable values of a person who is MAKA-BAYAN, MAKA-TAO, MAKA-KALIKASAN at maka-DIYOS. Moreover, it has embrace its mission to continue provide quality basic education that is equitable accessible to all, and to lay the foundation for life-long learning and service for the common good.
