Marcella Veronesi is a Full Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Statistics "Cognetti de Martiis" of the University of Turin. She held positions as a Full Professor at the Department of Technology, Management, and Economics of the Technical University of Denmark, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Verona.
She is a co-editor of Environmental and Resource Economics, an editorial board member of the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and a member of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) evaluation bodies.
She received her Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Maryland, has been a senior researcher and lecturer at ETH Zurich. She is listed as one of the world´s top 7% female economists.
Her research fields are applied microeconomics, environmental economics, behavioral economics, and health economics. In particular, her research in four continents and 13 countries applies experimental, survey, and quasi-experimental methods to topics related to the economics of health and the environment, charitable giving, climate change adaptation and education, renewable energy technology adoption, food security in developing countries, and the non-market valuation of public goods. Her research has appeared in The Economist, Financial Times, BBC, and Freakonomics, among others.
