Language/Communication:

The American Speech and Hearing Association offers a list of practical and fun activities you can do at home to enhance language for ages 2-6 here.

This folder contains two handouts with recommendations- one for students who have just started speaking and one for students who are speaking in sentences.

Articulation/Speech sounds:

This website offers free lists of words for many sounds.

This website offers free picture cards for many sounds.

See the articulation tab on this site for additional resources.

If you aren't sure what sounds your child is working on, look at their IEP or contact your child's speech therapist.

Activity ideas:

Cut out picture cards and practice your sounds in simple games like matching.

Color a picture of a word that has your child's sound (for example, a cat for the [k] sound). Practice talking about the picture. Free coloring pages are available all over the internet.

Read a book and practice any words with your sound in them.

Play "scavenger hunt" with picture cards for your words. Hide them around the house and let your children take a turn hiding while you look. When they find a card, practice the word.
