First Time working with Edmentum? First English class with us?
Just need a study strategy for English?
Take a look at these tips!
Not sure about the best way to get through your class? Follow these steps!
Review the Course Topic Tutorial and take the Mastery Test. Take notes on the material. If the Mastery Test is Passed, go to next Topic in Course (Always try to finish a Course Unit before changing Courses). If the test is Not Passed, see Steps 2-5.
If the Mastery Test is Not Passed (less than 60%) for a Course Topic, review your Mastery Test answers. Edmentum will show you questions marked CORRECT and INCORRECT. Keep these as notes.
[Reviewing your test scores GREATLY increases chances of passing the Mastery Test.]
Review the Tutorial AGAIN. If you did not take notes when reviewing the first time, fill in Guided Notes or take handwritten notes. For handwritten notes, focus on information related to questions answered incorrectly.
[Taking notes in your classes also GREATLY increases chances of passing the Mastery Test.]
Retake the Mastery Test. Your review and notes should help A LOT!
[YES, if you review the tutorial from start to finish, your test will unlock and you can attempt it more than once.]
If You are still experiencing difficulties for that Course Topic, Contact your Advocate/Mentor and have them schedule a Guide Session. (Or Schedule yourself by clicking HERE to visit the home page!)
Know what kind of learner you are.
It helps a lot! If you have trouble with reading or understanding the Tutorials, TURN ON the Reading Tools so you can hear the words as you're reading them. Listening AND reading at the same time helps with memory, too. Mouthing the words while you read sometimes helps, too!
Look up words you don't know.
This especially helps on Tests. You won't remember new words unless you see them over and over, and sometimes, looking a word helps you eliminate wrong answers to the Test Questions.
Take Notes. We don't expect students to remember everything.
Our Guided Notes directly relate to the questions you'll see on the Mastery Tests.
Remember that you can retake your Mastery Tests. The Gradebook keeps your highest scores, so you don't risk your grade when re-taking them!
Don't move onto the next lesson until you either pass the test, or get help with the lesson.
Post-Test questions follow the order of the tutorials.
The first set of questions come from the first tutorial in that Unit. The second group of questions come from the second tutorial; etc.
The Study Guide Tells you exactly which Tutorials the questions on the EOS (End of Semester) exam will come from.
If you fail an EOS exam, don't worry! Instead, take notes/screenshots of the questions and your answers. You can use these as part of your notes to help with getting a better score on the V2 exam.
Never done a Writing Assignment before? We explain a lot about how to get started with that here!
