Absence Policy

Excused/Unexcused Absence Policy for the MVHS Girls Gymnastics’ Team

Excused absences are based on valid reasons for not being at a mandatory practice or meet and have been granted prior approval by the coaches. An unexcused absence is missing a mandatory team practice or meet without notifying the head coach and getting an OK for the absence.

When you miss a mandatory team practice or meet your absence affects team moral.

An illness is a separate issue from an excused absence. If you are ill the day of a meet you cannot compete. If you are ill the week of or day before, you may or may not compete.

If you are going to miss practice, you must call the head coach: Ms. Julie Coopet at the high school, 651-621-7153 or cell 651-785-5754. If something happens at the last minute, call Midwest Gymnastics 651-482-9616. It is not acceptable to send a message via a team member.

The team rides on the bus to the meet and returns as a team to MVHS.

During the Holiday Break, practices are mandatory (please let the coaches know if you are out of town)

Consequences for unexcused absences at practices or at a meet:

  • A first unexcused meet absence, you will not participate in the next meet. A second unexcused meet absence at a meet, you will be asked to turn in your leotard and forfeit your team status.
  • One unexcused practice absence - meeting coaches to explain what happened. Consequence may follow.
  • Two unexcused practice absences - meeting coaches & parents to explain what happened. You will not participate in the next meet.
  • Three unexcused practice absences - you will be asked to turn in your leotard and forfeit your team status.

You must be a responsible member of the MVHS Girls Gymnastics’ Team
