A tour through the Hollywood Star Cars Museum is a trip through some of the most famous movies and TV shows of the last 50 years. They feature the best Hollywood movie & TV cars in recreated settings displayed with sound, lights, and action! Many of the cars are the creations of George Barris, who has created more famous Hollywood movie & TV cars than anyone.
The museum is constantly searching for new cars to improve the collection. Popular cars are from such blockbuster hit movies such as The Ghostbusters Ecto-1, The Munsters Drag-u-la, General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Beverly Hillbillies Jalopy, Two Batmobiles from "Batman TV Show " & “Batman Returns.” Other cars featured are "Eleanor" from Gone in 60 Seconds, The Fast and the Furious, Back to the Future DeLorean time machine, Days of Thunder Mello Yello race car, the Beach Boys 1955 Thunderbird, Sir Paul McCartney's Cadillac, and many more.
Not only can you see the Most Famous Cars, you now have the opportunity to relive a little bit of Hollywood History!
In the Hollywood Star Cars Museum Studio & Gift Shop, you are able to purchase an In-the-Car Souvenir Photo or Die-cast Hollywood Collectible.
The Wheels Through Time Museum
The Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley is home to an outstanding (and surprising) huge collection of rare American vintage motorcycles and automobiles. It's been featured in many magazines and national television shows including the History Channel. Located five miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, this all-American motorcycle museum houses 300+ of America's rarest and most historic classic motorcycles, including Harley-Davidson, Indian, Excelsior, Crocker, Henderson, and much more.
Regarded as one of the world's premier destinations for motorcycle and transportation history, the museum continues to grow, with an unparalleled collection of memorabilia, and continues to provide new exhibits. See dozens of motorcycle-related exhibits, ranging from board track racers, hillclimbing, and original paint machines to American dirt track racing, choppers and bobbers, and one-of-a-kind motorcycles.
Any classic car buff will love their "Decade Collection" with many American automobiles in a timeline spanning nearly 100 years. Classics of the 30s, such as Packard, Lincoln, and Cadillac. Like the motorcycle collection, these automobiles are used regularly. Early teen cars include the Locomobile and Cadillac, which were the top of the line during their time. More modern cars consist of a sheik 1954 Eldorado convertible and a 1962 Corvette Roadster.
Over 25,000 pieces of art and memorabilia grace the museum, providing a ambience and atmosphere unlike any other. Each piece provides gives a more in-depth glance at a way of life that has influenced American culture for over 100 years. Founded by Dale Walksler in 1993, Wheels Through Time has become an integral piece in discovering, maintaining, and preserving American transportation history.
The Estes-Winn Car Museum
A must stop for antique car buffs is located just a few miles from downtown Asheville in the "Grovewood" complex behind Grove Park Inn, so there is much to see! Browse the impressive Grovewood Gallery, stroll through the garden with unique sculptures, tour The Homespun Museum, and visit with artists in Grovewood Studios.
The Estes-Winn Car Museum is free of charge; however, donations in the "Wishing Well" are greatly appreciated and go to benefit several non-profit organizations. See rare and vintage automobiles, as well as original horse-drawn carriages and Asheville's own American La France fire engine. The cars have been preserved in their mostly original and running condition.Open April-December, Monday-Saturday 10 AM-5 PM, and Sunday 11 AM-5 PM. The museum is closed during the winter months of January-March.
