Nano-Materials/Magnetic Materials Research (NM3R) Laboratory, led by Prof.Dr. Mustafa Akyol, develops the computing systems of the future, starting from the fundamentals. We create nano-scale materials and devices and study how to use them in electronic systems with unprecedented performance.

Much of our work involves devices that use both the spin and charge of electrons, also referred to as spintronics. Examples are magnetic memory and logic, magnetic tunnel junctions, voltage control of magnetism, spin-orbit torques, spin waves, and microwave magnetic devices. Recently, we have been interested in 2D nanostructures and hybrid nanocomposites for various applications including nanoelectronics, nanobiotechnology, and defense industries.
