I am a Senior Process Engineer currently working in Panasonic Energy of North America (PENA) based on Sparks, NV. I am a member of the Cell and Process Engineering (CPE), Winding team. In Electric Vehicle battery cell manufacturing, winding is one of the most complex steps. Most of the crucial parameters that determines cell safety and capacity are controlled here- such as gap defects (is Anode layer covering cathode layer fully), short circuit defects (is there any foreign particles inside the wound cell that can cause a short circuit), capacitance (is the cell wound too loose or tight) and so on.
I was a PhD student in Manufacturing (Ph.D. program in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering) at Pennsylvania State University. I worked under the supervision of Professor Saurabh Basu. I also closely work with Professor Edward De Meter, Robert Voigt and Todd A. Palmer. Prior to Penn State, I received a B.Sc. in Industrial and Production Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. My research interest falls broadly in the intersection of Manufacturing processes, process mechanics and material science aspects of the process. Specifically, I am interested in studying and optimizing the post processing operations of Additively Manufactured components and exploring the Process-Structure-Property (PSP) relationships that tie to the operations undertaken.
I enjoy learning new things and teaching them to others. I am an engineer by brain and educator by heart. Starting from my internship at Tesla Motors, I got enthusiastic on battery manufacturing technology and the chemistry behind it. This curiosity led me to my current role in Panasonic Energy of North America as a Senior Process Engineer in Cell and Process Engineering (CPE), Winding department.
Apart from academic activities, I can sing and performed on stage in several occasions. I love traveling and exploring new places, foods, culture and capturing photographs. Lobsters of New Hampshire, mofongo of Puerto Rico, steaks of Philadelphia, beaches of Virgin Islands, country roads of West Virginia- many are checked, more are in the bucket list!
