Observations on a deeply spirtual journey
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him." John 9:3
This is one of my verses. The context is the healing of a blind man. I was born, probably due to a series of medical errors, 3 months early with the cord wrapped around my neck. I spent 3 months in an incubator, and my mother was told that I would not survive. I sustained minor damage to the motor cortex. (The diagnosis is cerebral palsy.) I believe in my soul that God has had His hand on me from the day I was born, and saved my life. My disability was mitigated enough that I have been successful in many of my undertakings. My disability has given me the opportunity to serve my community in some unique ways, and speak for those whose challenges are more severe.
Each year when I get to my birthday, I try to remember to say "Thank you, God. It is good to be alive."
11/14/24 I don't when this was written. I claim it now. It is still true.
