Musify ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This comprehensive Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, process, and disclose your information, including personal data, in conjunction with your access to and use of the Musify mobile application (the "App").
This policy is designed to comply with global privacy standards, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
We collect information in three primary ways: information you provide to us, information we collect automatically, and information from third-party services.
Account Data: While the App functions primarily as a local media player without requiring an account, if you choose to utilize cloud backup or sign in via third-party providers (e.g., Google Firebase Auth), we collect your name, email address, and authentication tokens.
Communications: Information you provide when you contact us for support or feedback.
Device & Log Data: We automatically collect hardware model, operating system, unique device identifiers (e.g., Android ID, Google Advertising ID), IP address, and crash reports (via Sentry and Firebase Crashlytics) to diagnose issues and improve performance.
Usage Data: We collect analytics regarding how you interact with the App, such as features used, time spent, and navigation paths (via Firebase Analytics).
The App integrates several third-party software development kits (SDKs) to provide core functionality, analytics, and advertising. These providers may collect, process, or store data according to their own privacy policies:
Google AdMob: Used for serving personalized and non-personalized advertisements. Privacy Policy
Firebase (Google): Used for analytics, crash reporting, real-time database, and authentication. Privacy Policy
Sentry: Used for real-time error tracking and diagnostic data. Privacy Policy
YouTube Extractors (NewPipe/Piped): Used for streaming external media. Interactions with these streams are governed by YouTube's Privacy Policy.
We process your information for the following purposes:
Service Delivery: To provide, operate, and maintain the App's core functionality.
Improvement & Analytics: To understand user behavior, fix bugs, and enhance features.
Monetization: To serve relevant advertisements (you may opt-out of personalized ads via the App's UMP consent dialogue).
Security & Fraud Prevention: To protect our users and maintain the integrity of our systems.
If you are an individual in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, we collect and process information about you only where we have legal bases for doing so under applicable EU laws. Our legal bases depend on the services you use and how you use them. This means we collect and use your information only where:
We need it to provide you the Services (Performance of a Contract).
It satisfies a legitimate interest (e.g., research and development, protecting our legal rights).
You give us consent to do so for a specific purpose (e.g., personalized advertising).
We need to process your data to comply with a legal obligation.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right to Access: You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.
Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data.
Right to Data Portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you.
To exercise any of these rights, or to request the deletion of your account and associated data, please contact us at the email provided in Section 9.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information:
Right to Know: You can request details about the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you over the past 12 months.
Right to Delete: You can request the deletion of your personal information.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not "sell" your personal information in the traditional sense. However, sharing data with advertising partners (like AdMob) may be considered a "sale" under CCPA. You can opt-out of personalized advertising via the App's settings or your device settings.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. If you request account deletion, your data will be securely purged from our active databases (e.g., Firebase). While we implement robust, commercially acceptable security protocols to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Musify is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete such information.
