Our 5th grade music class will have fun playing the guitar this year with an updated curriculum. We will be using Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1 as well as the new Hal Leonard Christian Guitar Method . We will learn how to play folk and worship songs on the guitar by reading notes as well chord symbols. Students will enjoy praising the Lord with their voice and instruments in 5th grade!

Our 6th grade Music class will learn concepts to include music theory, harmony, elementary composition, music history, instruments of the orchestra (orchestral families and band instruments: Sousaphone, baritone and saxophone), guitar, singing, classical listening and composers Sousa, Handel, Gershwin, Stravinsky, Debussy and Ives. We will incorporate singing of folk and worship songs as well as other instruments as wanted or needed.

Opportunities are provided to develop performing aspects of music as well through our Firm Foundation Elementary Ensemble. This audition only selected group of 5th and 6th grade students share their musical talents at special events throughout the school in the community and special field trips. Auditions will be held on the first week of school.
