I’ve been a vocal coach/instructor for over 30 years and currently teach in Cameron Park, CA. I’ve coached vocalists and performed as a featured vocalist with Expressions Productions, Miss El Dorado Pageants, Mrs. California pageants, New Star Discovery and taught Musical Theatre classes for El Dorado Dance Academy. I’ve also toured with Kaleidoscope dance company in Japan and Hawaii and appeared with Fair Oaks Community Theatre in their performance of “Great Songs of the Sky” at the Edinbugh Fringe Festival in Scotland. I was named “Star Entertainer of the Year” with New Star Discovery in Sacramento.
I love Musical Theatre and have appeared in many theatrical roles such as The Witch in "Into the Woods", Fantine in "Les Miserables", Maria in “West Side Story”, Guenevere in “Camelot”, Tuptim in “The King and I” and the Narrator in “Joseph, and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Music Circus, Imagination Theatre, Theatre El Dorado, and Magic Circle Theatre have cast me in featured roles. I received a Bill Birdsall award for my role as the witch in “Into the Woods.” I have been vocal director for such productions as “The Music Man”, “Bye, Bye Birdie”, “The Secret Garden”, “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Little Shop of Horrors.” I’ve directed church choirs, been children’s choir director and chamber and jazz choir teacher at the Sacramento area’s “Visual and Performing Arts” Charter school. My choirs received Gold and Silver awards at Heritage Festival competitions in various cities as New York, Anaheim and Seattle. As a classical artist, I have been soprano soloist in “The Messiah” and performed with The Sacramento Choral Society and Vox Musica ensemble. I studied Vocal Performance at BYU on a vocal scholarship.
In my approach to vocal lessons, I believe versatility is important in training new singers so they can perform in many different styles of music. I also emphasize breathing and vocal placement as being paramount to vocal health so the singer can perform well at any age. Musical Theatre is my specialty! Preparing students for auditions and picking appropriate material for individual voices are some things we’ll do!
I expanded my music studio to add piano lessons because I was asked to! I use Bastien PIano Basics but can adjust to different methods based on student's needs. I am also a vendor for The Cottonwood School, Clarksville, Feather River, Horizons, and Visions charter schools.
