Fear Season 3 had some great music, including this haunting tune that played while Madison (Kim Dickens), Troy (Daniel Sharman) and the militia walked back to the ranch without their shoes, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) did some cliff-diving and Jeremiah (Dayton Callie) gave Nick (Frank Dillane) a gun.

Back in August, when I happened upon fan-favorite "Battlestar Galactica" and "The Walking Dead" score composer Bear McCreary, he promised to deliver "kick-ass music" for the latter highly-anticipated (and now very successful) television series. And just to prove he's a man of his word, MTV News was invited to visit his exclusive scoring session for the season finale, wherein McCreary discussed his inspiration for the series' main title.

"It repeats over and over, and in fact in the pilot episode, you start hearing it before the main title begins, and this is something that continues episode to episode," he explained. "You hear the main title music before the main title begins, so you know it's coming."

"It's a neat concept because you know when you're watching a teaser of a series you know the main title is coming," he said. "There is so little music in the show that when you start hearing that string-repeating figure start getting louder and louder, you know that something is about to happen, and it creates this fun sense of anticipation and excitement."

For me the song that makes me feel happy is when Lee goes all badass in Savannah, Even though it is completely unrealistic in the walking dead universe it gives me satisfaction that he makes it to the Marsh House and ultimately Clementine,

There are too many but I narrowed it down to three.

Clementine's Suite: This is one of the greatest pieces of music I have ever heard...Alive Inside is actually just an extended version of this. Many the songs in the game are variations of moments in this Suite.

What a View: This plays when you reach the roof of the hospital in Episode 5 of Season 1. Took my breath away, something so simple and calming about it.

What a View

Devics - Salty Seas: Although not composed by Jared. This song is just incredible.

Devics - Salty Seas

Good thread btw

Very calming and sad track, especially since the last few notes are a repetition of Tyreese's death leitmotif from "What Happened And What's Going On", echoing the sense of loss Sasha feels. It also reminds me a lot of music from "No Going Back", although ironically not the track that's been dubbed "At Peace".

One aspect of the show that draws fans in is the wide variety of musicians that are featured throughout the series. Some songs that have been played have been by universally known and loved artists like Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. Other songs, however, have been created by bands or artists that were not as well known before being featured on the show such as Paris Motel and Patrick Watson. I have compiled a list of some of the artists and their songs that were made famous by The Walking Dead. Although it does not include the entire collection of the many songs that have been brought to the mainstream by the show these are the songs that I feel best represent what the show is about.

While we wait for her return next season, Business Insider recently spoke with the actress who plays Beth, Emily Kinney, about her passion for singing and how her music and acting careers collided on screen.

The Nebraskan native attended New York University where she pursued both an acting and music career working in theater off Broadway. In the summer 2008, she made her Broadway debut in "Spring Awakening."

"When I first started doing music I wrote the song and then I would find friends to play with me in my band and then I'd book the show and play the show. It was definitely driven by me. Now I have managers who help me with so much of that," she says.

The episode, titled 'The Cell,' was uncharacteristically high on music kickstarting with The Jam song "A Town Called Malice" as well as Roy Orbison's "Crying" which paved the way for the episode's most heartbreaking moment.

Interested in knowing what Andrew Lincoln listens to on his iPod before stepping into the role of Rick Grimes? We talked music, working out, Season 4, catching up on the comic book series, and much more during my exclusive interview with the star of The Walking Dead.

Andrew Lincoln: I love music, like everybody does, but I find it very useful to tap into certain feelings and moods. For Episode 13 with The Governor, I was listening to a lot of The Black Keys because it make me put more of a swagger in my step during the confrontation. It puts me in a place that's more antagonistic and direct.

I listen to varied music, and there's a brilliant song by Snow Patrol... [Editor's Note: It's Set The Fire To The Third Bar, featuring Martha Wainwright] It's slow and methodic, almost like a folk song, and I'd listen to that over and over for two hours to prepare for the scene where I learn that Lori has died. That song is embedded in my brain [laughs]. I like listening to Marvin Gaye to get myself breathing, and The Prodigy was listened to a lot when I was clearing the courtyard.

The show has made use of music in notable ways before (viewers are still recovering from the incessant "Easy Street") and giving Sasha an extended scene set to a memorable song allowed the show to give her death the focus it deserved without revealing the surprise. Many fans guessed that the scenes of Sasha listening to "Someday We'll All Be Free" signified her death, but it was unclear enough that the moment she emerged was still effective. It also injected an odd bit of hope into the story as Sasha's death gave her people the edge they needed to briefly get the upper hand. The choice of song reflected that hope.

The Walking Dead actress has been writing and performing songs for years, but thanks to her recent TV stardom, she now has a new album on the way and is on the cusp of making it big on the music scene.

As she continues to forge a path through the world of entertainment, Kinney plans on staying true to her inner creative self, whether its with the type of music she makes or the scripts she accepts. Her main goal, though, is to stay consistent and active as an artist well into her elder years.

That wasn't always the case for the 30-year-old songwriter whose major fan base is made up of people who watched her character Beth live and die on "The Walking Dead" TV show. But she is encouraged by the growing numbers of "really, truly music fans" who are starting to fill her audiences.

So what I'm saying is that basically everyone was primed to have All The Feels, and the music selection is setting us all off. (Side note: good job, music people. Very effective choice, two thumbs up on the cathartic cry scale.) e24fc04721
