HIPOCRISY: ART IN PANDEMIC

The main critique in the comic strip “Hipocrisy: art in pandemic”, is the hypocrisy of people and their behavior about the consumption of art before and after coronavirus outbreaks. During the quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people started to take refuge in art - music, literature, movies, drawing, painting - to relieve stress and anxiety for being confined. So, they consume different genres of artists and praise their activities. However, it is clear that such opinion will not persist in the post-pandemic, due to the devaluation of art and the lack of vision of artists as workers, with the opinion that art is just a hobby and not a job worthy of recognition.

So in the comic strip we also seek to highlight the devaluation of local artists and draw attention to people who admire Hollywood actors and award-winning musicians, consume different forms of art daily, but do not hesitate in humiliating the artists who sell their work on the streets. The concept of art for some seems to boil down to products widely advertised in the media, distant, produced in large cities or in other countries, despising beginners and non-famous artists. In the context of the pandemic, this became more evident, as, by spending more time at home, people started to look for entertainment that would help both to pass the time and bring a little comfort in such difficult times. Even though, many people continued to not recognize the artists' work as a proper job that deserves not only respect, but also gratitude.
