Checking Out Books:
Students are able to check out books during library class.
Students may check out a maximum of three (3) books.
If a student has one overdue book, they may check out just one other book at a time. If a student has more than one overdue book, they can put a new book on hold until they return it.
How Long Can I Borrow A Book?
The amount of time you are allowed to borrow a book for is called the 'circulation period.'
Students' normal circulation period is three classroom cycles, which works out to be eighteen (18) school days. At the end of three classroom cycles students should either return the book to the library or renew the book.
Renewing Books:
To renew a book, the book must be brought into the library to be scanned OR students may access the library catalog online to renew a book.
Lost or Damaged Books:
Lost or damaged books must be paid for. In the case of a damaged book, the librarian will estimate the cost of repair or replacement. If a lost book shows up within the school year after it has been paid for, the book can be returned to the library for a refund.
Materials for our library will be selected based upon, but not limited to, the following criteria:
As deemed developmentally appropriate by the SLMS for the MAS collection
Award winning literature
Reviewed favorably by a reputable source (such as Booklist by the ALA)
Recommended by staff, students, or parents
To complete a series that the MA library currently carries
To complement a curricular unit of study
To fill a perceived gap in collection as assessed by collection analysis
