Murdoch Schon

Murdoch Schon is a non-binary theatre maker, director and dramaturg. Born under the open skies of Treaty One Territory (Winnipeg) , they have been involved in the Tiohtià:ke (Montréal) English theatre scene for almost a decade.

Murdoch is fascinated by provocation, vulnerability, and the role of risk and failure in art-making. They believe that theatre rises to its true power through the practices of ritual liminality, community and imagination. In recent years, they've loved experimenting with digital work and new modes of theatrical experiences.  

The are  currently the Associate Artistic Director at Imago Theatre

Murdoch is a graduate of the National Theatre School’s Directing Program and has a BFA, Specialization in Theatre and Development, from Concordia University.

A friend once told me Tony Kushner said 

"We come to the theatre to experience that which is too beautiful and too terrible to experience alone." 

I haven't been able to trace that back to Tony, but I like it all the same.
