Introduction to Instructional Technology
Technology in Education embraces the use of audio-visual media,
information and communication technology and educational data
processing and tele-communication. This dimension of educational
technology involves the use of equipment of hardware machine (audiocassette player, video cassette player, overhead/slide/film strip projector
and other projectors) and materials or software (audio-cassette, videocassette, transparencies, slides, filmstrips) in education and training. Every
teacher and student in every part of the world should be familiar with such
traditional technology in education like the chalkboard, charts, pictures,
portable board and models in the classroom. Such instructional devices
have been commonly referred to as “teaching aids” or “audio-visual aids”.
