I live in mindspace, Malad. There is a nice park opposite my building and many teenagers from all over mumbai visit that park. They park their two wheelers outside the park, which does not disturb the flow of traffic as there are multiple private buses parked there. Here's where the scam starts: Everyday from the past two months the traffic police come and tow their scooters, and it's soo sad. I see these kids begging the traffic police officers to let them go, many times i see bribes which are given and the vehicle is let go. What's weird is that the buses were parked in the same line but no action was taken against them, and they also take more space. The towing of vehicles needs to stop, this is literally harassment. A vehicle should only be towed if it disturbs traffic. These kids weren't disturbing anything, or anyone. In mumbai, we rarely get to enjoy nice things, and when we do, these robbers appear and rob our happiness. Although my vehicle has never been towed, i see how this ruins the mood of everyone. We should really do something about this, because this towing has become more of a business than a traffic problem.

Edit= How can we make midday aware of this situation, so they write an article on this problem. Mumbai is expensive, i myself own a two wheeler, most of us own a two wheeler to save on traveling money. After seeing the amount of towing going on next to my place, and also next to my college, i have stopped taking my two wheeler. I have been lucky to not get my vehicle towed, but i have written this post because what the police is doing is just not right. We need to fight back otherwise this is just going to keep going on, and on. They probably purposely target places where youth is present more, because we can't fight back.

I had filed a grievance in the month of February 2023 when I recieved a Lok Adalat Notice, though it was rejected and I was intimated about the same in April 2023. The reason they put up for rejection is "The challan is issued against your vehicle by on-duty traffic police constable/officer of concerned traffic division & he/she is the witness of your said traffic rule violation;Hence the challan is proper".

Actor Amitabh Bachchan created waves on social media for posting a photo of himself riding pillion on a stranger's motorcycle to reach his shooting location. The legendary star said that the man dropped him to the location on time, saving time during peak Mumbai traffic. A day later, Anushka Sharma too was seen taking a bike ride with her bodyguard after a roadblock. But both the photos were slammed by social media users, who asked by these stars were not wearing helmets.

MUMBAI: In view of the extremely poor air quality index (AQI) of the city, the Mumbai traffic police on Thursday destroyed 584 modified silencers which were seized by them in the past year for spreading air and noise pollution.

On November 7, the traffic police began their crackdown on vehicles, and so far, the traffic police have penalised 20,000 motorists and two-wheeler riders for violating pollution norms laid down for vehicles.

Traffic police officers said construction material needs to be carried to construction sites covered with a cloth. If vehicles such as trucks or cement mixers are found carrying construction material in an unsafe, dangerous manner, it will attract action under the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Rules.

For the Mumbai's perpetual honkers, who love to blare the horns of their vehicles even when the traffic signal is red, the Mumbai Traffic Police has quietly come up with an unique initiative to discipline them in order to curb the alarming rise in the noise pollution levels in the country's commercial capital.

Joint Police Commissioner (Traffic) Madhukar Pandey said that the decibel monitors are connected to traffic signals around the island city, and when the cacophony exceeds the dangerous 85-decibel mark due to needless honking, the signal timer resets, entailing a double waiting time for all vehicles.

\\\"Mumbai is one of the noisiest cities in the world and lot of this noise is at the traffic signals where Mumbaikars honk even when they see the signal is red. Jointly with the FCB Interface, we have launched this innovative solution to arrest the honking menace,\\\" Pandey added.

Further, Pandey pointed out that honking is not only a bad habit, but also an act of traffic indiscipline besides being a major health and pollution hazard. In Mumbai, 149 and 460 honkers were booked in 2018 and 2019 respectively for honking offences.

\\\"Sadly, many Mumbaikars indulge in reckless honking which not only causes noise pollution, but hurts eardrums, increases heart rate, causes stress and adds to traffic chaos. All recognise it, but do little to curb it. With this, hopefully we may create better road discipline and ensure a honk-less, noise-free and stress-free travel on the Mumbai roads,\\\" Pandey said.

In a unique and innovative effort to address the issue of reckless behaviour on the road and promote traffic safety, Mumbai Traffic Police joined forces with Marolcha Maurya, one of Mumbai's beloved Ganesh Chaturthi pandals. The collaborative initiative sought to harness the power of one of India's most cherished festivals to inspire a change in how Indians approach road safety.

This year, during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Marolcha Maurya, with the creative support of FCB Ulka, introduced a captivating and thought-provoking concept to draw attention to traffic safety. The centrepiece of the pandal was Lord Ganesh himself, who was depicted wearing a seat belt, setting an example for all to follow. Additionally, his faithful vaahan, the mice, were adorned with bike helmets, emphasising the importance of protective gear.

FCB Ulka created an engaging activation that matched the theme of the pandal. They rewrote the popular prayer Sukh karta, dukh harta to incorporate the message of traffic safety. Devotees were given booklets containing the revised prayer, encouraging them to sing it during the festivities. This turned the religious mantra into a powerful reminder of the importance of following traffic rules. The underlying message was clear: If Lord Ganesh follows traffic rules, so should you.

Shailesh Khandeparkar, executive creative director at FCB Ulka, shared his insights about the innovative campaign, stating, "Most humans will do things out of fear of God. We just added our little twist to it, asking people to follow traffic rules for the love of God. And as it is based on a popular prayer, it is easily hummable, making it easy for everyone to follow the rules."

More than three years after former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis announced body cameras for traffic police personnel, the Mumbai traffic department received 1,388 body cameras on Monday. The traffic authorities, who are yet to distribute the cameras to its men, said there are 34 traffic divisions across Mumbai and each division will be allocated at least 30 body cameras depending on the traffic load.

The authorities said they received 1,388 cameras in two instalments of which the last instalment was delivered to their head office in Worli on Monday. Thakur said the cameras are user friendly and a day long training will be provided to every traffic policeman.

Under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety, the junction was redesigned in 2020 by WRI India making it more compact by aligning traffic lanes, shortening the turning radii and reclaiming the unused s
