Principal Investigator
I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology & Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham (UK). After a gap year spent adventuring across Australia and the pacific, I returned to the UK and completed a PhD in Vision Science at Cardiff University. I am currently a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Psychology at Stirling and feel very lucky to be able to explore exciting questions about the brain and human behaviour everyday!
Outside of the lab, I can be found exploring local neighbourhoods and coffee shops on my bike, trying out new crafts and curating playlists that I forget about in a few months time.
We are always on the lookout for new lab members. If you are looking for a research position and have an interest in the current lines of research our lab is exploring, please get in touch!
Official lab mascot
Here to remind everyone to take naps, prescribe a healthy dose of treats, and most importantly to practice a healthy work-life balance!
Outside of her official lab duties, Chonkita can be found bird watching, jumping on counters she isn't supposed to and attempting to run up walls.
Final Year Project Student
I am on my last year of joint honours in Biology & Psychology, and I have been interested in Neuroscience for some time, as I am completely fascinated by the human mind. I acted as module rep during my first year at university, and this past summer I did an internship at a university lab in Barcelona. With this final chapter, I hope to expand my knowledge and develop a clearer career path.
Besides neuroscience, psychology and biology, I have become very interested in philosophy. I am very passionate about music, whether listening to it on my own or going to concerts. I also like to train boxing and muay thai, going to the gym and hiking.
Final Year Project Student
I'm from Berlin, Germany and would like to become a researcher in neuroscience in the future.
Final Year Project Student
I’m a final year psychology student at Stirling and during my studies I also work part time in an executive recruitment firm. I’m extremely fascinated by the concept of human time perception as the mechanists behind it is something I’ve never really considered before but since reading the dissertation project blurb, questions about the topic haven’t been off my mind! So I’m looking forward to exploring this over the year.
Out with work and study, I’ll be travelling at any given opportunity or picking back up on one of the many crafts I began and then forgot about. I also love to eat, sleep and experience the most out of life.
BSc Placement Student
I am in my fourth year of psychology. I am from North Wales. I love to read and do yoga with my friends.

Research Assistant
I’m a third-year undergraduate psychology student who originally wanted to be a counselling psychologist, but research has recently ignited a fire within me. Through working in a mental health support worker role, I discovered that I was more interested in investigating each person’s experience than working in the field. Since my recent diagnosis of ADHD, I’ve been motivated to change my career path to postgraduate research in Child Development, with a focus on gender differences in ADHD development.
In my personal life, I love my pets, art, poetry, musicals, and concerts. I love supporting women and feel so grateful for an opportunity in such a diverse group where we can embrace this.
MSc Placement Student
I am a postgraduate student studying MSc psychology. I majored in international relations in my undergrad, alongside my undergraduate studies I was pursuing to be a professional golfer. My interest in the workings of the brain was sparked when I was introduced to neuroplasticity. There was no looking back for me after that!
Outside of my studies, I enjoy working out, playing golf, traveling, and eating good food :)
MSc Student
I am a psychology conversion postgraduate student at Stirling. I completed my undergraduate degree in English language, and I have worked as a News reporter and a content writer. Delving into the field of Psychology is a roller coaster journey which seems to unlock within me hidden abilities and desires. I am interested in discovering the intricacies of the human brain and its endless possibilities.
Asides studying, I enjoy taking a lone walk while listening to my favourite pop artiste. I also love watching K-dramas.
MSc Student
I am currently a postgraduate student in Psychology (Conversion course). I obtained an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Nigeria. My aim was to specialise in Medical Laboratory Science, because I’m so rapt about human health concerns. Although, my passion diverted to psychology following the limited number of practicing psychologists in my Country. Being part of this Project will instil in me the practical knowledge of how sensory systems in humans make sense of the world following time signals. This will hopefully guide my specialization choice in psychology profession.
At my leisure time, I like to hang out with friends, take photos and sometimes go to the gym.
Research Assistant
I am third year Psychology and Spanish undergraduate. I had a chance to work on diverse positions such as day carer, waitress, tutor of English language, Student Ambassador, or distributor of newspaper. However, I have never had a chance to work in an academic environment, so I am really looking forward being part of this group who is excited about discovering secrets of our brain.
Apart from that, I enjoy being around people, no matter if it is during Chinese language classes, 7am weightlifting sessions, or night of board games and good food with my friends.
Research Assistant
I am a 3rd-year undergraduate Psychology student and Faculty officer for Psychology. People's behaviour has interested me since I was little. However, it was not before watching the movie "Brain on Fire" that my love for psychology and neuroscience really started and it never finished since.
I enjoy art, literature, reading and writing poetry and exploring different places wherever I go. Some could say I am a wanderer by soul and an academic by heart. I have experience in different volunteer roles (befriender, scout leader, tutor..), but I have never worked in a lab before. I am looking forward to exploring more of the topics not covered in my undergraduate program and learning from other lab members.
MSc Placement Student
I’m an MSc Psychological Research Methods student at Stirling. I completed my Psychology undergraduate degree at the University of Dundee, where I found my interest in research through discussions about open science. I’ve been working at Stirling as a research assistant in the cognitive neuroscience lab for over a year, where I’ve had lots of fun experiences collecting EEG and fNIRS data! I’m really looking forward to exploring some new fields and developing my understanding of psychological research.
I spend lots of time vibing to music, crying over statistics and snuggling with my cat.
Final Year Project Student
I am a psychology undergraduate in my final year at Stirling. I have always been fascinated by the concept of time, and understanding how we perceive time has always intrigued me. Alongside my studies, I have worked in the social care and hospitality sectors, gaining many different experiences. One of my goals this year is to enhance my statistical knowledge within psychology and learn some R!
My interests outside of university include drinking lots of tea, watching my favourite movies and shows on repeat and exploring new places in and out of Scotland.
Final Year Project Student
I’m a fourth year psychology student, who eventually hopes to go into counselling. Currently I am a mentor for first year students, on committee for two societies within the university, and the 22/23 Health & Well-being Officer within the Stirling Students Union.
Alexa Huesgen Hobbs
Final Year Project Student
I'm a final year psychology and biology student endlessly fascinated by the intersection of the brain and the mind. The variety in perception abilities is something I find incredibly interesting, and I hope to continue research like this to investigate the impacts of neurodevelopmental disorders. Outside my degree, I love to weightlift, live vicariously through my Sims, and bake.
MSc Placement Student
I am a student of MSc Psychology (accredited conversion course) (2022/3) at the University of Stirling. My previous major was business management and administration, which I chose without realizing what I was interested in. But in recent years, I have found my passion that I am always curious about psychology rather than bored with it. Therefore, I gave up my previous major and studied psychology instead. I am looking forward to helping myself develop my ability from the knowledge-learning stage to the academic research stage through this placement.
Outside of my studies, I like taking pictures, watching movies and travelling.
MSc Placement Student
I’ve completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences (India) and then continued on to acquire a postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics at the University of Cranfield (UK). I then worked as a scientific writer for a year at Cactus Communications (India branch) and then realised my penchant for the field of Psychology and am currently pursuing my masters in Psychology (conversion) at the University of Stirling. The concept of multisensory time perception was something very new to me and I immediately knew I had to get ankle-deep in it simply due to its, “always been there but never noticed it” vibe. I am super excited to see what this placement has in store of me.
I enjoy dabbling in art (digital or otherwise), writing poetry, reading, and nature walks.
