Introductory activity: Think-Pair-Share
Brainstorm as a class everything that has been discussed and learnt in the first 5 lessons of the unit. This draws upon students prior knowledge and activates their mind regarding content they have already learnt. Students are to jot down ideas on their mini-whiteboards individually and then share with a partner. Once pairs have consolidated their ideas there will be a class discussion where the teacher will write down some student's answers on the whiteboard as well as elaborate on them.
This is to get students to recall what all of the various methods of solving multiplication problems are, and how to do each methods e.g. definitions, key features, common mistakes
WM - Understanding, Communicating
Activity 1: Worksheets, check answers digitally AFL
Students will be complete LESSON 1 HOMEWORK SHEET, in which students were asked to design 10 multiplication questions on an A4 sheet. These were collected and will now be randomly distributed to each student and are to be completed and then checked using the online resources. They are to complete sections of the worksheet, for example completing the first 3 questions and are then to use one of the following digital resources to check their answers. If students complete these questions quickly the teacher could provide some more advanced multiplication questions for students.
Note: if students are getting answers wrong, they must use the digital technology as well as discussing with a partner as to why it may have been incorrect.

RESOURCE 1
Students can use the Maths games on the website http://www.ictgames.co.uk/ in particular Array Display which shows a visual demonstration of multiplication, for students to check their answers.
e.g. as shown to the left

Activity 2: Online games
Once students have grasped the concept of showing their working and checking their answers to see if they were correct, and if not, where exactly they went wrong, they will now be instructed to go to the following online games for further practice.
